Help / Advice needed with motherboard setup
subseauk replied to subseauk's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Hi Thinder, thanks for that. I am considering putting in an extra fan or two as there does not seem to be a lot of flow out of the AIO fans. Also maybe putting one on to the GPU area to see if that helps. cheers:thumbup: -
Headwarp, Sorry to jump in on the thread but I am in a somewhat similar position in that I am having a shed load of problems with my windows to the point I think a full reinstall is going to be required. However not being a PC guru I was wondering how difficult it would be to install a 2nd M.2 drive of 250GB for Windows ( fresh install ) and to leave DCS on the first 1TB M.2 drive. Would you think there would be any issues and how would I go about it. I don't really want to spend a week down loading DCS, aircraft, campaigns etc again if I don't need to!! Thanks for the assist and again apologies for jumping onto the thread.

Help / Advice needed with motherboard setup
subseauk replied to subseauk's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Hi Guys, Sorry if I opened a can of worms with the original post. As I said I appreciate all inputs and opinions from you guys and take them all into consideration. I would always tread carefully when it comes to system settings and would probably reach similar results in the end but without your input it would take me a long long time to get there!! Thanks again. -
Help / Advice needed with motherboard setup

Thanks Draconus, I appreciate any and all input from you guys as you all have far more knowledge and experience with PCs the I do. I obviously have a lot more catching up tp do on the subject. Cheers  -
Help / Advice needed with motherboard setup

Thanks mate, The PC Builds thing was something I was unaware of, I will spend some time looking at it and the other programs you mentioned. Cheers -
Hi all, as a relative newbie to DCS ( and PCs in general due to being a Mac owner for last 20 years). I have just upgraded the Motherboard to a Asus ROG Crosshair Hero VIII, Ryzen 9 3900X CPU, 32Gb ( 4x8) 3200 Hz Corsair Vengence DRAM, EVGA Nvidia 11Gb GTX 1080Ti and a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB NVME M.2 Not being too familiar with Windows since 95!! I am lost with the best settings to use in the BIOS, Windows 10 Pro etc to squeeze out the best from the system. I am looking for a DCS guy who is also a tech guru to help me with the settings I should use or at least explain them to me if possible. Appreciate any help guys. Rgds SubseaUK

Thanks but the problem is I can't find how to disable the guardian!!! Could you talk me through a step by step on how to do this? The place I have been told before where it is does not seem to be the same on mine!!! I am sure it will be down to something I am doing wrong but who knows!! Cheers
-
Yes, I see the bits you are talking about right up to the skip bit, I don't see any option to skip past these bits!! Thanks for the link. cheers
-
I cannot see a skip option so I have to go through the routine every fekin time and sometimes two or three times before it lets me proceed!! It was doing this occasionally before the latest update but seems worse since!!!! What is the Skatezilla's tool you speak of? cheers

Hi all, Apologies if this is seen as a thread hijack but I thought there ws enough similarities not to warrant a separate question! As a fairly new user of both DCS & Oculus Rift I thought it was me doing something stupid with regards to the boundary. Every time I start the Rift it wants me to set the boundary, I thought this should be a one of thing! I start my pc then voice controller, Oculus Tool Tray and then turn on the headset ( linked via a usb3 cable ). At the boot up of the headset I get the boundary message. Once I do that I start the Virtual Desktop and then DCS from within the VD and all is good from there. The Boundary thing is getting to be a royal pain in the butt. Do you think a powered USB hub would help? Is there a way to disable the Boundary bit permanently? Any other suggestions on best way or routine to start up ( ie how to avoid the Oculus desktop/home )? Thanks for your input guys

So Art, how do you activate the brake system and does the rudder pedal input automatically control brake force or is there something else you need to map? Sorry if I sound a bit dense but I actually made the mistake of coming back from fast jets to WW2 aircraft to learn DCS as the fast jets seem hellish complex for a beginner. Guess that may have been a mistake!!! cheers for the input:thumbup:

Does anyone know how to map the left/right brakes onto TM Warthog HOTAS as I don't seem to be able to do this!!! cheers

uncontrollable Yaw / Rudder steering !!! Help please
subseauk replied to subseauk's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Thanks mate:thumbup: but as far as multiple inputs go I had said previously that these had been confirmed as single inputs so no crossovers. Next suggestion:helpsmilie: keep em coming :) -
Thanks guys No interfering mapping, all controls and surfaces. working as they should. I have not messed with braking as I cannot even taxi from a cold start in a straight line! I had. heard the Spitfire was a bit finicky but this is ridiculous I have tried throttling up very very slowly and very quickly with all in between to no avail. Once the aircraft starts to roll I have even backed off to zero and still don't have any control over the direction!!!! Might have to raise it as a ticket with ED!!!! Cheers for the input guys

Hi guys, as a fairly new user to DCS I am still slowly learning how to handle the aircraft both fixed and flingwing. I posted this originally in the input and controls section but thought I might get some additional feedback from within the Spitfire section in case I'm missing something obvious!! I was making slow but steady progress until yesterday when I downloaded the Spitfire and coincidentally since then my aircraft seem to loose control almost immediately. It seems mainly affecting yaw or rudder inputs. For instance when I input left rudder on the Spitfire I cannot turn the opposite way without stopping first and then the same happens in the new direction. I have checked all the bindings to make sure that nothing is conflicting and it seems ok as does the fine tune in axis settings. it also seems as if all movement suddenly goes into overdrive and speeds up. Really weird. Can anyone give me some input here? I am just about to carry out a repair on the DCS and also try the Beta version to see if the same thing is occurring. I have the latest DCS standard version and I am using a TM Warthog HOTAS . Cheers K Originally Posted by randomTOTEN View Post Load the spitfire on the ground with the engine off. DCS has a lovely little habit of assigning the same controls to multiple hardware devices... as if they're all identical joysticks. One of the first things I normally check is a visual on the flight control surfaces and movement of same in relation to control inputs and from memory I believe they all looked normal but I will definately check them again thanks. Doesn't address why everything seems to speed up as well though! we are talking a full 360 rotation on Helo in about 1-2 secs!!! Cheers OK. So I checked all the control surfaces from the external view and they all work as expected with no cross over interference. But when I start to throttle up I can not stop the Spitfire from going out of control, it either rotates one way or the other despite putting the opposite control / rudder movement in. Thankfully the Helicopters and the speeding up thing seems to have resolved itself but I cannot seem to be able to get the Spitfire to co-operate. Any thoughts guys?
