  1. That would be the fella! I tried just opening it and trying to save it but no joy. I have started trying to replicate it in the Mission Editor, with a certain amount of success. My version is not as polished but it's doing the job of letting me up and about and blow some stuff up to remind me how to do it.
  2. Hi Ages ago someone out there made a really nice little tutorial mission where you got to start up, take off, fly to a little village, hide behind a ridge, take out 3 tanks and then move onto an enemy camp and blow it up. All this then return to base. I love using this mission to get myself warmed up after a prolonged period of not playing BS. It was called Tutorial01.miz I have it installed and it shows up on the missions list but it won't run on the newer versions. Anyone know how I can make it run or does anyone have an updated version of the mission that will work? Cheers!
  3. I had the same problem but on finding that I was miles away on top of a mountain with no BluFor in sight I restarted. I tuned the ADF and then checked that it was pointing East. I didn't like doing it as I felt it was cheating but that was the only option I could see. I then found that the 477 setting on the ADF dial took me in roughly the right direction but no way was it taking me to Madrid. In the end I recognised where I was from the river and just flew to where I could see Madrid was from looking at the knee board. Once I knew that the ADF was taking me to the wrong place I kept fiddling with it around the 447 mark but I couldn't find anything that would take me in the right direction. Very annoying. This is a really long mission as it is, the idea that I could spend over an hour flying and then end up in completely the wrong place does not fill me with joy.
  4. I don't know much about the way the circuitry in the X45 works. I have extended the handle from the base by about 1m using some SCART cable. Is there any reason why this would be likely to induce noise in the potentiometers? I only ask as I tried using my other X45 as a baseline and when fire up the game there was no shuddering in the cyclic whatsoever, it was rock solid. I'm trying to work out if something I did in extending the handle from the base has caused the extra shaking or whether it is just gunge on the pots. Any ideas appreciated.
  5. I hadn't even heard of Kontakt-61 before now. I will look into that as an option though. Thanks!
  6. Hi I have been playing Huey and getting to grips with the flight model. As part of this (and a general idea I have had for a while) I converted a Saitek X-45 into a proper cyclic stick using copper pipes to extend the handle from the base. The only problem I have now is that once it is set to a sufficient sensitivity to emulate the fingertip controls of a helicopter the in-game cyclic stick shakes around a lot. I am assuming that this is due to the quality of the pots in the X-45. I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the pots in the X-45 to stop this? Does anyone know what ones I could use and how to do it? Other than that my cyclic conversion works brilliantly and this would be the icing on the cake. At the moment I have the Axes set up with dead zone set to 0, Saturation set to 100, and the curve set to -50. This works very well, but it would be good to make just a smidgen more sensitive without the noise spoiling things. Thanks in advance! Dan.
  7. I purchased the upgrade. It wouldn't work through trying to install as a module through DCS but worked fine when installed on its own.
  8. I downloaded the BS2 module separately and it installed without any problems. That's after I had gone through the uninstall and reg removal process then reinstalled everything.
  9. Same problem here.
  10. You should just need to apply a small amount of throttle - Page Up once or twice then hold Home until the starter gets the engine rpm up to about 30%. Once you've got that far the rotors should be spinning merrily and you can release Home. After that just increase RPM (throttle) until it's in the green band.
  11. Ah. Weird. Can you get him going again by transferring to his aircraft and moving to the end of the runway or does he continue to sit there looking stupid? As far as the audio is concerned, that might be my PC, I'm having all kinds of problems since I upgraded it. I have a new PSU coming which will, hopefully, fix a few things.
  12. I haven't, but the problem with that is that it would require him to be off the runway. At the moment he's stuck on the apron facing the runway but unable to proceed due to a clutter of trucks in the way of his set path.
  13. Hi I have updated to V1.2 with DCS World. Since I have a couple of issues have arisen with Smerch Hunt: 1. My wingman will not take off - there are some trucks in the path of the route he wants to take and so when he reaches them he just sits the mission out there. Not a massive problem as such but it would be nice to have him take out air defences while I'm dealing with the main event. 2. I'm not getting any audio for the targets assigned by CAOC. If anyone has any ideas / solutions I'd appreciate it. This is my favourite mission. Thanks!
  14. I have also just found that the trim key / joystick button doesn't work either.
  15. I have the same problem. I have just upgraded. I tried BS1 up and they work fine in that but in BS2 whatever I do, nothing. I have tried mapping the controls to different keys and also to buttons on my joystick and neither one is working. It's very frustrating.
  16. I had the same problem after an RTB on Defend Yankee. I got pretty badly shot up, did a complete shutdown, a complete restart (including EGI alignment) and the ladder was horizontal the whole way.
  17. Hmm. I've tried just putting it in as it was read to me and I think it came up with a distance of 1100 miles away. I'll give it a try putting the zeroes in different places. Thanks!
  18. Hi I'm sure someone has already posted about this but I've had a search and I can't find it. On defend Yankee one of the sets of co-ordinates, UDT, is only 5 digits long. whereas all the others seem to be 10. Do I have to zeroes in somewhere to pad it out, and if so where do they go? I've tried all the logical places, insofar as there are any, but they all seem to point to somewhere on the other side of the continent. Thanks. CptT
  19. I tried that. There's only the message from JTAC. For some reason CAOC messages only come over as voice, there's no data message to back them up. They don't seem to have a radio channel they can be contacted on.
  20. Hi Is there any way to request a repeat of co-ordinates given by CAOC? In Smerch Hunt I bomb a Smerch and the angle leaves me pulling up like crazy and trying to avoid flying into a mountain, and THAT's the time that CAOC thinks is a good time to start gabbling co-ordinates at me. Now, obviously, I can pause the game (and I do) but that's not very realistic. It would be nice to sort myself out and ask them to say again. Suggestions appreciated. Cheers!
  21. Thanks for that. I tried it last night and had exactly the same radio problem as dane48. I also revisited the mission editor and got it working. Still can't get any fuel, but that's purely down to my flying!
  22. I tried to set the frequencies.for the.tanker manually but I couldn't work out how to do it - I don't find the mission editor all that intuitive and just ended up getting annoyed with it. I'm sure there are numerous posts on this but I wasn't in it for a long-haul attempt, I just wanted to Wang something together and crack on.
  23. Hi I had a go at setting up a mission to practice inflight refuelling the other night but just got really frustrated in the end - I couldn't get a response on the TACAN or radio, and in the end I just gave up for the sake of my sanity. Does anyone have a mission they could post for this? Thanks.
  24. Arrgh! But that's my favourite mission!
  25. Hmm. That makes sense I guess and all indications are that there isn't one. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that the ATC coding is not going to be linked to a physical building in game, though I know little about these things and am entirely prepared to be wrong :)
