  1. if laminating is not that much of a deal, i'll go with #3 and since this a poll with 3 preset options i don't think it makes sense to ask for options not already in the poll... or could i have mine printed upside down? just kidding, i think the map maker did a great job and it's very nice of ED to step in and try to distribute it! awesome work! and btw the original map thread is here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=50869
  2. I think it was only your speed combined with the rudder. At high speeds the bottom rotor flaps up when going forward to balance out the asymmetrical lift. Even without the rudder input the blades were very close together. And the rudder caused a change in pitch/speed and the rotor sliced each other. Also you were very accelerating at a very high rate, putting extra load on the blades. Somewhere it has been said that you should plan your flightpath 5 seconds ahead, always knowing what you will do next. That way you can avoid a situation like this, where you frantically try to gain speed to catch up with your flight. And this wasn't even a combat situation, it was just a turning point :music_whistling: Coming from mechanical engineering I can give you this advice: Know what types of loads you can exert on the blades (acceleration, pitch, speed, altitude, etc...) which result in different strains (torsion, bending, etc...) for the blades and try not to combine all of them in a single maneuver, because a combined strain is bigger than just the sum of the different types of strains. I hope I could contribute a little, have fun :pilotfly:
  3. IMO the main differences are payload and speed: The 25T can move very fast (and high) and deliver a massive payload, whereas the 50 can remain stationary with a reduced weapons loadout. So the 25 never spends a lot of time in the AO (depending on its size, of course), whereas the 50 lingers on the battlefield (which raises the SAM/AAA threat) and has much more time to observe, thus making its strikes a little more precise. Personally I fear that in a Black Shark / Su-25T coop mission the Su-pilot will spend most of his time circling the AO waiting for the 50 ;)
  4. The HMS is only good for quickly pointing the Shkval in the general direction of a target, so you dont have to slew it all the way over to it. Make sure the Shkval is not locked on anything, activate HMS (h). "Look" at target - which has to be within Shkval range - and uncage Shkval (o). Fine tune with the slew buttons. I highly recommend pages 11-14 : 11-29 in the manual, as these also cover the gun fix switch. EDIT: The 5 positions of the "MOV,FIX, etc..." switch are covered on page 6-89 in the manual.
  5. Outstanding job! Thank you for your dedication and sharing its result with the community. Although you might already know that, the Beacon locations can be found in "(...)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Scripts\World\Radio". Maybe that helps at least for the Radio stations/towers. The only Oilrigs I found at first glance were offshore from SOCHI and have the following coords, according to the mission editor: 43 32 15 N : 39 43 25 E 43 33 26 N : 39 40 25 E First choice for coord gathering would be the raw data itself, if this does not work for some reason, we could maybe collect the data one "mapunit" (grid square, major city, etc...) at a time? Just a suggestion, but with enough people it might be doable? :helpsmilie:
  6. cool, i did not know that manually placed farps are automatically added to the abris and can be found in the search function. this helps a lot! thanks!
  7. thank you for replying, if there is no other way i will use unused nav tgts as airfields.
  8. Hello folks, I have a couple of questions about programming the PVI in the ME: Is there a way to store Airfields in the PVI without making them a start/end waypoint? I would like to make a mission with one roundtrip of waypoints (i.e. Airfield1, WP1, WP2, WP3, Airfield1) and have 2 backup FARPS programmed to the PVI. That way you could divert to one of the FARPS quickly if you need to land in a hurry. Also I was thinking of this: The memory of the PVI is very limited when it comes to waypoints or targets, while the abris seems to know no such limits. I was wondering whether you could program a second "plan" into the ABRIS that has the 6 nearest airfields in the AO as waypoints 1-6 that you could load and export those 6 waypoints (which are few enough for the pvi to store them) to the pvi and use them to find your airfields/farps. So is there a way to create multiple plans for the ABRIS in the ME? Can the ABRIS export info to the pvi and overwrite it? Thank you for your time! Cheers, Garf
  9. very nice, thanks for sharing!
  10. Hi everybody, I have a very strange problem with DCSBS. I did look for a similar thread but I could not find one. So what happens is that all files created by BS, like missions and screenshots, do not show up in the Windows 7 explorer. I create a mission in the Mission Editor and save it in "...\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Missions\Multiplayer". After I quit BS the file is not there, although BS can open, edit, save and even host the mission in multiplayer. The same goes for screenshots: I just took some in multiplayer and my buddy said that a message came up that I just took a couple of screenshots, but the Screenshot folder is empty. Here is what I tried, which all doesn't work: I rebooted the system :smartass:. I removed the "write-only" property of the Ka-50 folder and all subfolders and -files. I started BS as admin. I used different folders to save the missions, even folders located on other HDs. I enabled all invisible files and folders. I looked for a Ka-50 "user folder" in Local or Roaming in my Windows user account. Some info: Whenever I try to copy a file into the Ka-50 folder, I can only do it with admin rights. I bought the german box version 1.0 and patched to 1.0.1. I run Windows 7 64. Everything else in BS runs fine, no glitches, no fps drops. Thank you for your time and help! EDIT: I deinstalled BS and made sure that the Ka-50 folder was completely erased. Then I did a reinstall (as admin) and BS still finds the missions I created with the old install. EDIT2: The problem is solved now, I was on the right track but not thourough enough. On Windows 7 BS creates a "shadow folder" at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50. This is where all Screenshots and missions are stored. Maybe this helps other people that have the same problem.
