So I take that as a "no", I guess?

The patch is very nice and well worth the waiting! Nice job! I have one question, though: Yesterday I was flying coop with a buddy, and we spent 10 minutes trying to figure out why we did not see each other on the ABRIS over the DL. Then we found out that we had BOTH clicked the wrong switch to turn the DL on. There is two switches under the PVI-800 numpad, to the right of the "Edit, Oper, Off, etc..." turn knob. One for INU update and the other for DL On/Off. We are both pretty experienced Shark pilots and could perform the complete start-up in our sleep, so my question is: have those switches been switched in position by the patch? If so, why? If they haven't, we should probably apply for some kind of psychic academy, since we both did the same mistake for the first time at the same time. Happy flying!

BS/FC2 MP Mission - Hunter Killer Team co8
Garfieldo replied to MBot's topic in User Created Missions General
Thanks, will try the mission tonight! Just like Grimes I am always on the hunt for small (4 to 8 players) coop missions with Ka-50s and Su-25Ts. Does anybody know any other missions like that? -
Ground Attack - ways/rules of engagement?
Garfieldo replied to sukhoi350's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
with the tank battle somewhat over, the answer is yes, the "p" key does that. it switches between automatic tracking and gunsight. -
Totally unrelated, but in that mentioned wiki page it said under "start up": "There are only three steps to take the F-22 from cold to full readiness for takeoff: the pilot places the battery switch 'on,' places the auxiliary power unit (APU) switch momentarily to 'start' and then places both throttles in 'idle.' The engines start sequentially right to left and the APU automatically shuts down. All subsystems and avionics are brought on line and built-in tests are made. Navigation information and pilot's personal avionics preferences are loaded automatically. The airplane can be ready to taxi in less than 30 seconds after engine start." Sounds just like the Kamov!

Ground Attack - ways/rules of engagement?
Garfieldo replied to sukhoi350's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I really don't want to start a big "who knows his military best" discussion, but I'm pretty sure the T-72 can fire 125 mm guided missiles. I'm not sure whether they do in BS, though, so you might be right. Could also be that I confused them with APCs in the heat of battle  EDIT: Ok, according to wikipedia the T-80 and the T-90, which is an unpgraded version of the T-72, can fire the 9K119 REFLEKS laser guided missile. So yes, the T-72 per se can NOT fire missiles ;) -
Ground Attack - ways/rules of engagement?
Garfieldo replied to sukhoi350's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
a) Stand-off attacks with the Vikhrs are very common for Ka-50s because the pilot's workload is reduced in a hover. And like the Goose, erm... Goat, said, the Vikhr-Launchers can swivel up and down. b) that tactic is usually employed with unguided munitions like S8, S13, UPK23, etc. because they have a shorter range than the Vikhrs, requiring the pilot to get closer to the target. Regarding tanks shooting missiles: Main Battle Tanks like the T72 shoot missiles that either are laser-guided or use a laser for rangefinding (not sure which) and are optically guided. That means your laser warning system will light up, but flares will be useless because the missiles are not IR (infrared = heat) guided. And watch out, they shoot with their usual cannon, too! Flares only work on IR guided missiles like Stinger, Strela and Igla. The launching platforms for those are for eample the Avenger, Linebacker, and your worst enemy: Infantry (MANPADS). Off course, there is also air-to-air missiles like the AIM-9, but I'm not sure you can evade them that easily. Your best measure against missiles is situational awareness. If you know where the missile comes from, you can react much better to a missile threat. But I'm sure there are already tons of threads about missile evasion on this forum, have a look around :) -
If you run Windows 7 and installed BS in the standard (Program Files (x86)) directory (which is not recommended anyway), the windows UAC creates a folder at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\... This folder contains all personalized cfgs and some other stuff, make sure to backup your logbook and delete that folder as well before reinstall (And reinstall in something else like D:\Games).

I'm really looking forward to that kind of cooperative gameplay. Is anybody making any Ka-50&Su-25T coop missions?

Anyone Running a Profile with Invulnerability Set to False?
Garfieldo replied to WindWpn's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I did not know there were 2 log types. I guess I am talking about total time flown without getting killed, so this would even include multiplayer. -

Garfieldo replied to WindWpn's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I know it's very easy to cheat on something like this, so all we can do is take the pilot's word for it. Very, very naive, I know, especially coming from a German. I don't want to start a serious contest here, but I would really like to see some honest numbers (hours + AG/AA kills) here. I consider this community to be a lot more mature than others, so I'm pretty sure those who post some figures will tell the truth. :smartass: -
Anyone Running a Profile with Invulnerability Set to False?
Garfieldo replied to WindWpn's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I always fly like I could die for real, but I leave invulnerability on to keep a constant log of flight time etc. But kudos to anyone who finishes 20 mission without dying, not even by accident. It would be very interesting to see what the longest logged flight time (+ AG kills) on a vulnerable profile is. Do I sense a contest coming around the corner? -

Ka-50 Cannon rate of fire, high or low?
Garfieldo replied to S.h.r.i.k.e.'s topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
There is no real setting for it, just put the ROF on "Low" and try to squeeze off a single round. It might take some practice but it's not hard at all. -
Ka-50 Cannon rate of fire, high or low?
Garfieldo replied to S.h.r.i.k.e.'s topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
On high ROF, the heli cannot compensate the recoil as well, resulting in decreased accuracy. So basically you have to think "When is it better to dispense as much lead as possible towards the enemy, than to take your time firing long bursts?". Here is what I employ when I fly, I'm sure a lot of people will disagree. High ROF: + high volume of fire -> engagement is over faster -> you can get the hell out of the hot zone much quicker - decreased accuracy I use it for: * air targets * ground targets moving perpendicular to the helo * strafing in caged mode * when my helo itself is moving fast * short range engagements Low ROF: - low volume of fire -> engagement takes longer -> you need to be in a safe spot + more precise I use it for: * Long range shots (but only for unarmored targets): I managed to snipe a MANPAD at 3.5+ km with exactly one bullet once, but that was just lucky :music_whistling: * ground units moving parallel to the helo * static targets These are just my observations/tactics, throw away what you don't like and modify them as you like. Cheers -
Last time I played FC2.0 online, I busted a runway with 2 S-13s, and my teammate crashed on takeoff due to the remaining crater. Lost half his gear and slammed into a bunker. :music_whistling: And since it's supposed to be compatible, I think you can do that in BS, too.

Sometimes ModMan cannot manage the extra folder that the W7 user account control creates when you install DCS in "Program Files". It installs mods there, but sometimes cannot uninstall them properly. I recommend installing Black Shark in a self-made folder, like C:\Games\etc... It is under C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86). But be careful, thats where your configs and logbooks are stored so make a backup of those.

Actually it looks like danny gave him a little too much space... Maybe the smiley is more the VTOL kind, despite the old-school flight cap and goggles. Really looking forward to see 25s and 50s together on the same servers. The 25's fast delivery of a heavy payload combined with the 50's situational awareness will be a potent mixture :joystick: I hope there will be some nice coop missions made. Is anybody working on those already, by any chance? EDIT: Arrr, bfeld beat me to it ;)

Repeating myself here, but: Very good work and thank you for the status update! -
maybe the Windows User Account Control (UAC) is creating these problems? the UAC creates a user-specific folder in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2" maybe the game itself edits the config in this folder, but then loads the one in the install folder? i would check if this UAC-created folder exists and which files are changed by the game. i don't think this really applies to your problem since it's only the A-10 and not a global issue, but maybe it helps. good luck!

afaik the unit has to be set as the target of your plane in your plane's option menu in the editor. next to "loadout" and "waypoints" there should be "targets". if you designate a vehicle as a target that way, you will see it in the hud. i didn't try it in FC2.0, but it is that way in BS.
