  1. Scrambled the 2-ship flight and eliminated the 2 Strelas overlooking the valley and immediately ID'ed the first convoy. Took out its 2 Strelas with 65s and then went in with a ripple of 97s, which were uneffective (1009 issue, IIRC). And, being too greedy and not having the other convoy recce'd properly, we both got shot down eventually by its Strelas. After respawn we eliminated the SAM threat completely first and then dove in with 65s, 97s and 30mm killing the rest of the enemy force. Being very proud of ourselves and the good work we did we started to RTB, only to see the Recon Team to be mowed down by 2 tanks that had somehow slipped past our TGPs... On RTB we got engaged by the sole MANPAD (nice position). My controls malfunctioned and I had to eject, my wingman made it back with some scratches. Its all about Recon, Recon, SA, Recon and Recon. Overall a nice, straightforward mission. Thanks again! :joystick:
  2. Sounds very interesting! Will try this mission tonight with a buddy. Thanks for your work!
  3. I agree, especially when the tgt is stationary and you got a nice pickle (wings level, constant speed, etc), the less lase time the better, right?
  4. Big thanks to all of you contributing to making Freetrack work! Since I got Freetrack to work under 64bit (using the dlls etc.) I encountered a problem I did not have when using 32: The zoom/longitudinal axis position seems to reset every say 10 secs. This means when my nose is very close to the HUD for some strafing, my pilot gets his back velcroed to the seat again. Under 32 bit I never had this problem. Anybody have an idea on how to solve it?
  5. I also wondered, "Why is my game German when I download the EN patch?". Is there any way to switch back to English because I want to keep the "flight-lingo" completely English?
  6. The main differences in avionics and flight behaviour have been mentioned numerous times. What I think sets the two sims apart are the highly different mindsets of dealing with the mission at hand. While this of course depends on personal preference, I think in the Ka-50 you are always - after a couple of minutes of standoff attacks with the Vikhrs - fast and low, down-in-the-sh*t, sweating buckets trying to keep the bird fast and low enough, engaging targets, and evading all sorts of ground fire. In my opinion this gives the Ka-50 a more "getting your hands dirty" experience. On the other hand, my experience with the A-10C is that you have a wider view of the mission. You orbit at 25k+ looking through your targeting pod and engage with the safest way possible. And again, yes, there are enough moments when you have to get down and dirty also, but you can still outperform at least some S/A threats. So, to me, the A-10C is more of a methodical high-tech approach.
  7. Looks nice, maybe I will be able to try it today.
  8. In the 1st Devils Cross mission there are so many vehicle columns right behind each other that 2 CBUs really can make the magic happen. Even better if you create vehicle pile-ups by shooting the first vehicle of each column with correct timing and then drop 1 CBU on three piled-up vehicle groups. Poof, 40+ kills.
  9. Holding one of the MFCD buttons for a while will give you a kind of menu screen on the MFCD. There all the functions can be be put into the bottom row, which is the one displayed in normal mode. Just click on any funtion that is not at the bottom and then select the place on the bottom row where you want to place it, replacing the function at that location. For example, to put MAV on the left MFCD instead of STAT: Hold any button (TAD, DSMS, TGP, STAT) for about 1-2 seconds. On the DISPLAY PROGRAM screen, select MAV (the funtion you want) from the right, then select STAT (the function you want to replace) at the bottom row. Press any bottom row button to return to the MFCD's normal mode. See Manual on page 259.
  10. If he had said he liked the members in the forum, that would have sounded somewhat awkward.
  11. Landed very awkwardly but forgot to jett the 120 tons of munitions you put on that plane. Blew the main gear's tires, but that was it. Nice challenge :juggle:
  12. Damn right we have! It costs 1/10 of a semester at the university and you learn a lot of very interesting stuff. :smartass:
  13. Maybe EAC is turned off? I don't know whether this has an effect on non-AAP flight, just a suggestion.
  14. Thank you VERY much for all the work and sharing it! Prep for rep!
  15. I have been planning to conduct a similar experiment within the next days. Now, instead of starting from scratch I will be able to use your info as a starting position and hopefully be able to add something useful here. Thanks for sharing!
  16. FC2 is not a DCS module. The first module of the DCS series was the HokumPokum.
  17. I'm glad it works. Have fun flying where you want to fly ;)
  18. Do not trust the AUTO LASE function (at least not in this build). I switched to manual lasing to make sure everything is done right. Like everybody said, make sure the blinking "L" is in the TGP.
  19. When the "INS Nav Ready" starts flashing, you have to press the LSK next to "NAV" on the "System/INS/Align" subpage. It's the first page that is displayed if you don't fumble around with the CDU. This puts the systems into NAV mode. Then you get NAV data on the TAD. For the TAD to display your route/WPs, you have to turn the STEER PT dial on the AAP to FLT PLAN.
  20. I hope I didn't come across as doubting your story, blackheart. I just understood your post like it was a quote from the book. No disrespect intended.
  21. I THINK he just gave an excerpt from the book, not his own story.
  22. There is a thread with a solution on this forum somewhere, but I cannot seem to find it. I will keep looking. EDIT: Found it: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=69465
  23. Thanks for the work! You may depart!
  24. I just flew the SMERCH hunt mission where I added a LOT of WPs to the FPM. How EXACTLY do you delete waypoints from the FPM? I tried the LSKs and CLEAR, but it did not work. Thanks for the help!
