Blarney Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) Found this on the 'Air Power Australia Analysis' website. Any chance someone can translate it into English? (attached) EDIT: I guess I should have put this in the "Military and Aviation" section? EDIT 2: Please ignore the thread title. It should read "Su-35 HOTAS". Blarney Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 Tried Google. I could only get a few words. 486DX w/turbo button
Blarney Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 AFAIK it's Su-35's HOTAS, not T-50's This says it is the most likely candidate for the T-50, as well as being in the 35. http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-2010-01.html 486DX w/turbo button
LegoHeli Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 This says it is the most likely candidate for the T-50, as well as being in the 35. http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-2010-01.html While I love APA as much as any other F-35 hater, I have to tell you that while it is a likely candidate for PAK FA prototypes (as we already know the cockpit is pretty much the same as the Su-35BM), I don't think you should trust them too much on being what will be used in the real machine. APA are not Sukhoi, they are "just" a bunch of people with a lot of experience with aircraft, and most of their work about non-NATO/allied nations aircraft is based on best estimation where real data is not available. They aren't claiming it's the one for the real machine either, but like with the not-up-to-spec engines currently used, it might be what is used on the initial production run of real PAK FA (whichever Su-designation it might get).
Blarney Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 I made a note in my original post that the HOTAS should be credited to the Su-35, not the Pak-Fa. *sigh* So...about the translation. Can anyone do it? 486DX w/turbo button
Zaltys Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) Oh man. It looks nice, but seems that they were so afraid of accusations of copying something, that they just did almost everything vice versa from western HOTAS. For example: radar cursor (third from the top left row) on the central moving stick, can you imagine managing it under high g? Edited March 10, 2014 by Zaltys
Blarney Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Zaltys, if you know what the button mapping is on the HOTAS, can you post it? 486DX w/turbo button
Zaltys Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I just said what I remeber from my head. I need more time to look into it.
Zaltys Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Ok, here what I was able to find out, don't pretend to be 100 % true: First column: - autopilot disconnect (autopilot switch off) - 4-way master modes (A/A, A/G, NAV) switch - display's cursor steering - super maneuverability switch - trigger, I understand it's used for everything except gun - don't know exactly, looks like it resets something (like TMS down in F-16) - temporary disconnect of autopilot Second column: - forcing aircraft to horizontal straight and level flight - don't know - gun pickle (yes, it's strange position for it) - don't know, but looks like it points to trigger - management of EO station - comms switch - consent for something (?) - speed brake - introduction (direct translation from Russian) - chaff/flare Third column: - weapons selection BTW, there was information that it's an old configuration of HOTAS. Gl-ER Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Ok, here what I was able to find out, don't pretend to be 100 % true: First column: ..... - temporary disconnect of autopilot -> (Стартовый тормоз) - Hand wheel brake. MudRat02 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 While I love APA as much as any other F-35 hater, I got this far, which is pretty good considering you opened with "While I love APA..." [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
LegoHeli Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I got this far, which is pretty good considering you opened with "While I love APA..." Don't even get me started. I have no interest in discussing this to death and this is not the topic for that.
