The Haze modeling in FC2 is different - it's closer to "Basic" settings. I wouldn't say that FC2 looks better though.

I think I just want both sims to be the similar. I very well may change the settings back to normal.

My first flight in BS after weeks of FC2 had a very noticeably different feel. It felt like there was a permanent fog. I'd not noticed the effect before.

I'm not sure 200 000 = 200 km in BS. Because if you look at the first 2 images in the thread the first is FC2 @ 140,000 and the second is BS @ 80,000. In order to get BS close to matching FC2 you need to set the far clip to 500,000, even then, it is still Foggier.

In short Far_clip 200,000 does not seem to be the same thing in the two sims, the visibility is vastly different for the same values.

What do I need to adjust to extend out the view distance in Black shark to match FC2?

Wait for the compatibility patch. ;) You do realise that FC2 uses an updated version of TFCSE compared to BS?

Nate....

Just got back to flying BS and noticed the same "washed out" look.

AirTito is right set Haze back to "0" in options will give you a better result.

Far clip at those levels cost fps & not realy the best way to get the results your after.

Give it a go and see?? Its a hard one to call, but FarClip 200000 gives deepth of view (150km) but cost fps.

Have not yet methodicaly tested Haze = "0" for any adverse effects !!!!

Not strictly true - the updated stuff is the sound engine. Of course there's probably been some things tweaked in the SE innards as well. Also, as far as I know the TFCSE is not the same thing as anything related to graphics - it's a Simulation Engine; it's what operates all the flight models and those things. But again, I don't know exactly how the various components tie together.

IIRC haze = 0 prevents light sources lighting the terrain? I'll have to check that. TBH I have not noticed any FPS drop, but I'll test the various different configs later

Haze= 0 causes other problems with high alt lighting, scrap that idea!!
