2alpha-down0 Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Just as the title says, the game crashes while loading the second mission of a DCS session. Ex: Start DCS, load a mission, fly it/finish it. Load another mission after that and it crashes. Happens independent of module or mission source (user made or Instant Action)dcs.log-20200506-025856.zip Early Cold War Servers https://discord.gg/VGC7JxJWDS

Is the card getting hot maybe? A fresh driver install may help also. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? wrl11 Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Mine crashes on the second load also since the last patch. The log shows various errors, its not consistent. Now I just exit DCS completely before loading a second time. .

2alpha-down0 Posted May 6, 2020 Author Posted May 6, 2020 (edited) Tested it again today and the same result. Latest Nvidia drivers, and it is not a thermal issue; GPU never exceeded 84 degrees, and I haven't touched the OC on it in months. Edit: Reinstalled driver and identical crash, GPU never exceeded 83 degrees. sirrah Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 (edited) Identical issue was also reported a few weeks ago by several users. For me cleanup/repair did the trick. Very strange that all of a sudden, many people have this issue, without a clear cause... It most certainly wasn't gpu driver related on my system Edited May 6, 2020 by sirrah System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH
Sharkku Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 I have this issue as well. I tried a repair/cleanup, but the issue remains.dcs.log-20200507-002928.zip

Sharkku Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Turns out I'm an idiot. I was using a VR shaders mod recommended in this guide: Those were causing the crash. When removed, everything works, albeit at a slightly lower framerate. I'm sorry for bothering you!

I’ll uninstall and try again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Early Cold War Servers https://discord.gg/VGC7JxJWDS
2alpha-down0 Posted May 7, 2020 Author Posted May 7, 2020 This does appear to be caused by the 2.5.6 shaders mod. Deactivation and Steam file validation fixed the problem. Thanks @Sharkku and @BIGNEWY! Early Cold War Servers https://discord.gg/VGC7JxJWDS
