I've never been able to Save Profile AS ('Wrecking Crew 20131024.lua', for instance) and then be able to Load Profile and have all of my Controls (including Axis Assignments) filled in the way I want when I saved it.

How is this Save Profile As / Load Profile supposed to work?

First, click on the column that you want to save or load.

Then you can click on Save Profile (or Load Profile).

So, I will need to save every device's column for every platform. I have configurations for A-10C, F-15C, Combined Arms and UH-1H, with personal mappings on devices throttle, stick, pedals, maybe the mouse for CA. I'd need to save about 13-16 files?

I think it would take less time to simply rebuild the profiles. I had to rebuild on a Win8.1 upgrade.

Would the Axis mappings need to be saved separately? For another set of files...

I did try to take a saved profile from my main client machine (still Win8.0) and apply that to the other, Win8.1, computer, but the USB port addresses are different so I was getting mappings from one device applied to a different device. Ah, maybe I have to select a cell under the correct device before a Load (^^^ Devrim).

Doesn't seem very useful.

Yes, you need to save profile for each column. When I save my X52Pro, the axises is saved together.

I have no experience about plugging a device to different USB port and/or what DCS reacts for different registry address for same device. Saved a lua file only contains the layout (commands, modifier keys etc.). So I assume that it doesn't matter. You can just click on column first, and then click on load/save for profile you aimed.

When I was in summer holiday (away from my PC), DCS v1.2.6 update2 was released. I downloaded and installed DCS in my wife's laptop. I set keyboard commands for CA and played. When returned to home, I transferred keyboard.lua file to my PC. Laptop's and my PC's keyboard registry addresses are different of course, but it worked.

I am still using the A-10C profiles, for Warthog and pedals, that I originally saved from a version well before DCS World. I would say that they save time.

I should mention that I also edit the lua files, after saving the profile, to remove any functions that I am not using for that controller.

The saved profile holds the links between keys/buttons and "actions", generally speaking.

This is important, as it is vital to use a profile that you saved on the correct /matching controller... e.g. it is possible to "load" the profile for the keyboard on the Warthog Throttle. It will totally mess up the settings.

The advantage for FC3 Planes is: You can setup a basic profile for "Jetplane" on each of your controllers (Stick, Throttle, Keyboard) and load it for each Jet as a starting point, because most settings match. You may even "copy" the Joystick profile including axis tweaks, open a category (e.g. weapons), delete the keysettings for weapons set on the Joystick (and nowhere else).

Now you can setup the Buttons for weapons, but still have the axis including tweaks available.

The system is pretty flexible, but you need some time to understand how it works... and on the path to enlightenment you will mess up some profiles. See it as part of the learning process. :D

Hey, thanks for the advice.

I saved the KB, Rudders, Joystick and Throttle profiles for A-10C Sim, UH-1H Sim and F-15C from my main computer. I was then able to load these 12 profiles onto my second computer, onto the two DCS accounts there.

You do need to set up any Modifiers separately.

Now all three of my client computers have the same profiles.

Yes, it will save me a lot of time :)

I "add" the a (pinkie - X52Pro pinkie button) modifier separately.

It's odd that DCS sometimes "forgets" that modifier and I have to re-add it. :\

I think that one is the result of the same issue that occasionally corrupts the input lua files.

You could also go into the Saved Games folder and save the "InputLayoutTx" folder to another location. Whenever you update DCS to a newer version then just copy the saved "InputLayoutTx" folder or whatever portions of the settings you need back into the Saved Games folder.

 Isn't the save game folder supposed to be untouched by updates??

I have two computers and three profiles. The USB addresses aren't always the same, and they will change if a device is unplugged and plugged into a different USB port.
