SCHEDULE

The schedule for matches can be found at The Merge on Splash One Gaming. All matches are currently set to start at 1400z on Saturdays and/or Sundays of each week. To check what Zulu time is for you, see here.

TEAM SCHEDULING OPTION

Due to scheduling issues with teams last year, the continued growth of SATAL, and the fact the SATAL is a truly global competition the SATAL team has decided that teams should have the option to schedule and fly matches on their own time This means that teams can fly any match at any time as long as it is scheduled and agreed upon by their opponents. Teams can also use their own servers if they wish for matches. In order for a match to be counted Tacviews and Track along with logs and mission files of each match must be submitted to the Splash One Gaming SATAL Discord and the match must take place before its scheduled date and time on the S1G site. Information in regards to information verification and submission can be found below. Teams utilize official DCS World Events servers. If the match is not flown early the match will take place at its scheduled time and date on DCS World Events servers.

WHAT IS SATAL

DCS World Events, in conjunction with Eagle Dynamics, Wild Weasel Apparel, and Tacview are proud to announce SATAL 2020 - Squadron Air to Air League! SATAL allows for the action and interest that surrounds SATAC be experienced year round. SATAL's goal is to create a structured league that concludes in a single elimination tournament. Whereas SATAC is an intense 2-3 week championship, SATAL will be more of a slow burn year round competition. This is SATAL's third year and we hope to bring all of the action that was so exciting from last year back into focus for 2020.

TIMETABLE

- June 6th, 2020- SATAL Gold and Diamond League begins with matches being flown on Saturdays and streamed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and/or Saturdays for 35-45 weeks.

- League brackets will depend on the number of teams at signup.

- Groupings will also depend on the number of teams.

- Teams should expect to fly approximately once a month.

- Matches for Gold and Diamond League will always be flown on Saturdays and/or Sundays at 1400/1700z unless otherwise states on schedules or if teams schedule matches on their own.

- All matches will be streamed and track-able on DCSWorldEvents, The Merge and ED forum thread either live or from track replays.

- Future DCS modules will be included in the tournament automatically as well as multi-role objectives if needed or deemed to fit.

- End of the year tournament will take place end of season.

RULES*

- Match must take place on official DCS World Events servers.

- Diamond League matches consist of 2 teams in a 6v6 team CAP.

- Gold League matches consist of 2 teams in a 4v4 team CAP.

- Both leagues matches will be a best of 3 format unless otherwise stated by official admins.

- If teams schedule a match at their own time/choosing that scheduled date is final and must be used unless BOTH teams agree on a date/time change. Though it is encouraged that teams be as accommodating as possible to other teams as situations do occur if no agreement can be reached the previously agreed upon date/time will be used regardless of hardship. If a team fails to show at that time they will be issued penalties associated with a no show.

- No match participating members or a team are allowed to chat in a live stream during their match time. If a participating member of a team is caught chatting the team will be issued a forfeit for the match and have 3 points removed from their overall standings. A participating member is deemed to be someone that is flying or is a RIO for a given match.Nonparticipating members of a team are still allowed to chat in a live stream.

- Bullseye is centered between two airfields.

- There will be an engagement bubble centered on bullseye which teams must control to win the engagement.

- Once you enter the bubble you must not exit until the opposing team has been neutralized.

- Once you leave the bubble you cannot re-enter.

- At least one pilot from the winning team must return to base in order to the win the round.

- Some missions will provide AWACS for Diamond League. Gold League will have AWACS present for both teams.

- Some long missions have tankers available for refueling should teams choose to use them. There is no restriction on when you can refuel, however you are not allowed to reenter the combat bubble after leaving it nor are you allowed to fire weapons once leaving.

- Air frame selection is permanent during individual matches. Teams must choose a set line up for each match and stick with that format.

- You may NOT change the air frame line up between rounds of a match. eg. choosing 4 F15, 2 Su27 cannot be altered until the next match. This same rule is applied to Gold League.

- Payload violations and aircraft violations will result in a loss for the round where the infractions took place. Teams should not leave the server/TS until a final decision has been made and agreed. Decisions often occur at the end of the round. Be prepared to fly another round if a referee decision mandates it otherwise you may miss out.

- No RTB to refuel and rearm is allowed after entering the bubble.

- Pilots and teams are allowed to employee weapons before entering the bubble at targets inside and outside the bubble.

- Pilots must exit the server immediately after being killed or sustaining a lost or unusable aircraft. Unusable aircraft constitutes aircraft that are no longer airborne or able to fly. Failure to do so will result in forfeit of impacted rounds.

- No team member is ever allowed to enter or utilize game master slots during official matches. Game master slots are available only for the purpose of casting and should only be used by agreed upon parties or as DCS World Events staff see fit. If a client is found to be in game master and provides screenshot evidence than the at fault team loses the round in question.

- All aircraft are permitted for use in this league.

- A ping limit of 300 will be strictly enforced. Server will auto kick anyone over this limit.

- If a team member disconnects during a match round they are allowed to reconnect and slot into a new aircraft as long as they did NOT disconnect after taking off. As soon as an aircraft leaves the ground that pilot is no longer eligible for reconnecting should a disconnect of any kind occur.

- All matches will be hosted on the dedicated DCS World Events server based in a German data center unless otherwise agreed upon by competing teams.

- If a team fails to appear at a designated match a penalty will be issued; -3 points, walkover/forfeit, and the winning team will be awarded (Diamond) 6 kills (Gold) 4 kills.

- Teams will be eliminated at the conclusion of the league based on rankings in the SATAL league play.

- The number of eliminations will be determined based on the number of teams that signup to compete in SATAL.

- Rankings will be used for seeding in the end of the year tournament.

- Pilots flying in the Gold League are allowed to fly a limited number of rounds/matches in the Diamond League if they have a team present in both leagues. However, Gold League pilots are limited to 3 rounds total for the year of Diamond League play while still maintaining eligibility to continue participating in the Gold League. If I pilot flies anymore than 3 rounds, even partial, of Diamond League play, they will be deemed ineligible to continue flying in the Gold League and will have to finish out the season as strictly an Diamond League competitor.

- All teams are qualified to join Diamond League regardless of if they are veterans to SATAL or new to competitive play.

- Diamond League squadrons are allowed to have a second squadron compete in the Gold League simultaneously.

- Diamond League rostered pilots are not allowed to compete in the Gold League. Rosters will be checked throughout the year.

- All pilots must say ready before a takeoff order is issued. This means in a Gold League match all pilots must say ready before a Go Go Go is sent in chat. All 12 pilots must say ready in Diamond league. This ready also includes RIO so if you have 6 Tomcats in Diamond league you would need to see 18 readies in chat before takeoff.

LEAGUE PROMOTION AND RELEGATION*

- Rules Removed

WEAPON AND AIRCRAFT RESTRICTIONS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)*

- Asset Restrictions and Bans Diamond League: AWACS Banned (NO AWACS OR EWR SUPPORT)

- Weapons Restrictions: Home teams will select 1 of 2, A or B, weapon restrictions options immediately before the mission banning process. Weapon restrictions must be selected before mission banning in order to provide both teams the ability to select missions that suit them given the specific restrictions. If a weapon is not listed below iit means that it is totally unrestricted. The weapons restriction group that is selected will be used for the entirety of a match and is NOT to be reselected per round.

- Restricted: (A) Aim120Cx6 (limit of 6 total 120 across all variants), Aim54x4 (all variants allowed), SD10x4 (B) Aim120/R77x6, Aim54x4 (mk47A), SD10x4

- Banned: (A) Aim9x, Nukes (B) Aim9x, Aim120C, Aim54 mk47C and mk60A, Nukes

- Breaking payload rules during the round leads to an automatic loss of that round for the at fault team. If a payload infraction is noticed only after the match has concluded an automatic loss will be handed to that team at the time of ruling.

- Jester is banned from use in Diamond League. If an F14 is used in Diamond League both pilots must be human controlled. There is no limit on the number of pilots only the number of aircraft. Therefore if a team took 6 Tomcats they would need and be allowed 12 pilots. Jester is allowed in Gold League.

MISSION & WEATHER*

- Various mission locations will be available.

- All matches will take place on Caucuses.

- Missions will be similar to the one used in SATAL 2019, but with varying locations and restricted to only the Caucuses.

- Mission and time of day chosen will be used for each round of that match.

MATCH MISSION SELECTION

- Instead of rolling for mission selection like we have done in the past, this year we will be utilizing a veto style selection process so that teams can have a limited say in which missions they would like to fly on. The process for mission selection is below.

- The mission banning process will take place immediately before a match is to be flown and will utilize the Mission Selection Template.

- Each team has 30 seconds to make each mission ban decision. If a decision has not been made after 30 seconds the opposing team has the opportunity to select a mission for them.

- There are 23 mission options in total.

- Bans are decided on a home and away team basis. During League play you will play each team that you are scheduled against twice during the year. Therefore, you have the ability to both utilize the Home and Away positions against each opponent. Home team of each match up has 11 available mission bans and the Away team has 11.

- The Away team will always select the first mission ban followed by the Home team. This gives the Home team a slight advantage since they will be the last team to issue a mission veto.

- Home team is the team listed on the left side of the SATAL Splash One Gaming Calendar.

- Teams will take turns issuing bans 1 at a time and alternating after each selection for each mission location that they do not wish to fly on until there is 1 remaining mission available.

- Diamond League will use the Diamond League mission set and Gold League the Gold League mission set. Mission sets are shown in the mission titles of each mission.

- Once the Home team has selected 11 missions to ban and the Away team has selected 11 mission locations to ban using the above method the single mission that is left is the mission that will be flown for that entire match.

- For Diamond teams please note that some mission have AWACS and some do not. This delineation is shown in the mission title. All Gold missions have AWACS.

- Some of the extremely distant missions also have tanker support should teams want to take advantage.

GOOGLE DRIVE

- Home teams must update match information for each match their team participates in. An example of what information needs to be added can be found

.

- 1-2 members of each team must submit gmail addresses to Moltar via Discord to gain edit rights for Calendar.

SATAL Google Drive Match Files

- The Home team is responsible for creating a new match folder using the following style example... 15052020 Diamond League 104th Phoenix vs inSKY (daymonthyear league teamnames)

- Each match folder will contain copies of Tacviews and tracks from each round flown that can be found here that have been renamed using the following style... 15052020 Diamond League 104th Phoenix vs inSKY Round 1 (daymonthyear league teamnames roundnumber)

- Each match folder will contain a copy of the Mission Selection that was used to determine weapon restrictions and mission ban/veto using the following style... 15052020 Diamond League 104th Phoenix vs inSKY Mission Selection (daymonthyear league teamnames Mission Selection)

GOOGLE CALENDAR UPDATING

- Teams must add scheduled matches that are not at official DCS World Events scheduled times to the Google Calendar.

- 1-2 members of each team must submit gmail addresses to Moltar via Discord to gain edit rights for Calendar.

Diamond League Calendar

Gold League Calendar

COMPLETED MATCH SUBMISSION AND GUIDELINES

- In order for a match to be verified and counted teams must submit the required files to the specific event page on the Splash One Gaming website. Files must also be sorted, and added to the events pages. All submissions and editing will be done by the Home team of each match.

- All editing and file submissions will be done by the Home team of each match.

- Files that are required for submission are Tacviews, tracks for each round that was flown, and the Mission Selection Template file that was used.

- An example of what needs to be added and organized can be seen

, but Home team must edit the event on the S1G website and add all needed stats to box scores for teams as well as add each participating player and their individual stats. They must also provide links to the Mission Selection file, Tacviews, and Tracks in the specs fields in the match page.

- These files must be submitted immediately following a match and are required for match result verification or a forfeit will be issued to the at fault team.

- Delay in submission will result in penalties for the hosting team.

ADDED RULES

- (ADDED JULY) No jammers are allowed to be used on any aircraft due to a bug with jammers that cause missiles to miss 100% of the time if used properly. Any team found to have used jammers, even on a single aircraft, will forfeit any rounds that they were used in. This means that any aircraft that has an external jammer may not equip it with the exception of the JF17. The JF17 may still equip its jamming pod as the jamming pod is a multi mission pod that provides the jet with other functionality.

- (ADDED SEPTEMBER) Any type of AoA abuse such as erratic spinning is not allowed. This type of spinning causes missiles to behave erratically and miss with a 100% certainty. If you are unfamiliar with what this type of behavior looks like please see this video https://streamable.com/ku0jw9.

- (ADDED SEPTEMBER) Any pilot that disconnects prior to wheels leaving the ground is allowed to reconnect and reslot into the same round. If a disconnect occurs while the pilot’s aircraft has left the ground they are considered dead and may not reconnect.

- (ADDED SEPTEMBER) FA-18C Hornets are only allowed to use radar memory modes of 8 seconds or less. This is required due to a memory mode bug that allows for missiles to gain magic INS for a length of time that corresponds to the length of the memory mode set. So if a memory mode TTL of 32 seconds is used, magic INS will work for a length of 32 seconds. Using a memory mode of 8 seconds should be long enough to still allow the Hornet to be effective, but at the same time drastically limit the impact of this bug.

- (ADDED SEPTEMBER) All participating pilots must submit their private tracks to Moltar for all teams and leagues. Tracks should be zipped into a team zip and then either uploaded directly to Discord and sent via private message or uploaded to a file sharing site. They should then be shared with Moltar who will download and store them for later use. This allows the ability for staff to view pilot cockpit footage should the need arise and it also allows the ability for Twitch streams on the DCS World Events channel to showcase first person views. Failure to upload personal tracks will result in round forfeits for the missing tracks.

*Note: Tournament rules, weapons and missions are subject to change

REGISTRATION**

Please make at least your team captain available on the 64th Aggressors Teamspeak during match play. Team captains, as well as being the primary contact, will also be responsible for referee decisions throughout the year. This is needed in order to ensure that all rulings are as impartial as possible. More details about this will be provided as we get closer to league start.

This list of rostered pilots and selected aircraft is not concrete. You are allowed to fly with different pilots for each match bearing in mind the above rules regarding pilots flying in Gold and Diamond league teams. Teamspeak or Discord will be needed this year in order for organizers to have the ability to reach teams if necessary. Names and aircraft are not (yet) binding. Teams may add pilots to their roster during the tournament. Please provide us with their name and whether they will be flying Diamond or Gold league prior to match day. See above rules regarding eligibility

At least 1 pilot from each registered team must also be available on the Splash One Gaming Discord in order to be easily reached should rulings, scheduling, or other needs arise. When you join that discord, please navigate to the satal-discussion channel and post a message to @Moltar alerting him that you will be the said teams representative. I will then add you to a role for future communication.

Please use the template below as a guide and post in a new post in this thread to register your team. It is very important that you include as many pilots as possible that will be competing in the leagues. It is also crucial that home country of each pilot and Zulu time be included for information on The Merge.

**Note: All teams have the option to fly in Diamond league. However, teams that have previously flown in Diamond League and/or have been relegated to Diamond League from Gold League due to performance do NOT have the option of flying in Gold League. The only exception relegation from Diamond League to Gold due to performance.

F-15C just banned in diamond if i read correct? BUT is allowed in gold? Just to confirm and thus having no FF flanker there allowed in both leagues.

F15 is only banned in Diamond. Flanker and it’s variants are allowed in both. If there ever is a full fi Flanker than the FC3 Flanker would be banned from Diamond.

I have been so looking forward to these competitions untill my team was banned and our acmi also removed hahaha. What for?:)

You guys can still fly under another name... only BSW and the other Chinese team names were banned that doesn’t mean you can register under a new team. I did it that way for a reason.

Announcement Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening everyone. I wanted to let everyone know some rule changes to SATAL Diamond and Gold Leagues.

DIAMOND LEAGUE

@DCS World Events Announcement Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening everyone. I wanted to let everyone know some rule changes to SATAL Diamond and Gold Leagues.

Diamond league will be totally weapons free with 2 exceptions and some restrictions. This means that all weapons are available with the exception to the Aim9X and nukes. Some of you have been asking for this and I believe it is time to try it out. Again this means there will be NO weapons banned in this league except for the above. The 120C and all variants of the Phoenix are allowed. However, a limit to 6 actives will be enforced per aircraft. The Tomcat may be limited to 6 Phoenix during the event, but at this time it is limited to 4 due to magic INS. The Aim9X is still be banned as I believe it is too good in the merge and with the Hornet being able to carry an astronomical amount of them it doesn't seem too sporting. People need to fight to win in the merge and simply being the first to shoot doesn't seem very conducive to the environment of SATAL.

The F15 will continue to be banned in Diamond League. I realize that some of you don't like this, but I want to see what this does to the league. The Su27 is also on the chopping block, but is being allowed because there is no suitable Redfor replacement.

The reasoning for these changes in Diamond League is to try and push the fights longer range and to make them more dynamic and less forgiving. If you make a mistake in Diamond League you should pay for it.

GOLD LEAGUE

Gold League will continue as we did last year with the same weapons restrictions. This means that the 120C, Aim9X, Phoenix mk60 and C variants, and nukes will all continue to be banned in order to make the league as open to as many people as possible flying as many different aircraft as possible. This also means that active missiles will continue to be restricted to 6 with the exception to the Phoenix which is being restricted to 4.

Unlike in Diamond League the F15 is allowed in Gold League.

Hi guys,

Since the ping limit is 250, I'm just wondering is there a public server that is similar to the Satal server that we can use as a marker to see how our ping is going to be? Since me and my teammates are from Malaysia, we are just worried that our ping will exceed the limit.

Most people are fine with 250. I’m happy to schedule a time to test. We may go back to 300, but I’m going to be very vigilant on people with poor connections.

That's great, thank you very much. I've sent you a PM regarding scheduling the test.
