In many of my flights, my flight sometimes calls out a whole bunch of bullseye coordinates. An example is "Tally target bullseye (blank) for (blank). It would be really helpful if, instead of using my head to figure out where this is, if I could just punch it in to any of the navigation systems, or even the TGP, and have it locate it for me. Is this possible?

It is on the TGP. Its 2 green concentric circles. I do believe their is a hook mode that gives you bearings based off of the bullseye location. Not sure if you can easily enter the info they give you to mark a point though.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

I think Grimes is talking about the TAD (Tactical Awarness Display), not the TGP which is the targeting pod display. Look at the TAD for the bullseye symbol.

I may be wrong but doesnt the TAD get its data from the CDU? I kind of understood the TAD to be a visual representation of coordinates stored in the CDU. If this is the case, the bullseye coordinates are already in the CDU and you just have to switch to the appropriate page to see it.

If you press the "HOOK/OWN" button on the left side of the TAD it'll cycle through a few modes for showing references; BULL/HOOK and HOOK/BULL will have it show the bearing and range from bullseye to the hooked object, or vice versa.

You should also see your own offset from bullseye in the top left of the TAD. There is a way to get that information on the HUD as well, but I've not done it and can't remember even vaguely how.

Not sure if the bullseye information is shown on the TAD by default, but it is one of the display options (along with range rings etc.) if you configure the profiles for it.

I don't think there's any way to move the SPI to a particular place from bullseye, but I think pilots are expected to be good at working out for themselves where a location is in relation to themselves in their own heads. There's at least one training program someone made for Falcon (it's a standalone program, but in F4 you can have radio calls using bullseye) if you're keen.

Sure there is. This way takes a few steps, there may be others that are simpler:

1. Using the TAD, set bullseye as hook

2. change cursor to HOOK:CURSOR mode (displayed direction is from hook to cursor)

3. move the cursor to match the bullseye call

4. set markpoint at cursor, hook markpoint

5. set TAD as SPI

And now you've got an SPI at the bulls call. You could even eliminate the first step if there was a BULLS:CURSOR mode, but I don't recall there being one.

Or you select the B/E Page of the CDU and activate B/E, so you have the B/E coords on your HUD.

I can't find the B/E Page. Can somebody describe to me where I find the B/E page in the CDU?

Edit: the option to display your location with respect to bullseye is on the "WP" page, under the "ANCHOR PT" submenu. BULLSEYE should be the selected reference point by default, and at the bottom left you can toggle HUD OFF or HUD ON.

The best way to utilise bullseye coordinates & the CDU (other than doing it in your head), is to use the OFFSET (OSET) page. Go to the OSET page, select the bullseye waypoint (enter as many characters of BULLSEYE as required for it to auto-complete, or make a note of the WP number, then use the appropriate OSB to enter it). Then you can enter the heading and distance in HHHDD.DD format and it'll calculate the offset and display its coordinates. You could then use it as-is, or create a new waypoint from it in the usual manner.

Edit: link to doright's post which perhaps explains the steps clearer than the above.
