This was last year!

Now the case housing Thrustmaster's MFDs, 2 X 8'' monitors and open cockpits USB Axes card.

(Also power supply adapters and a powered USB Hub)

Still Work In Progress!

USB card is not installed yet, wiring needed and of course finalize it (paint etc).

Thank you all for the inspiration! :)

Thank you Reactorone for the files!

Yes!

This is an old PC Case! I am editing a couple of photos to show you how it's inside.

Of course the panel is not a replica of A-10 C.

I have put the Armament HUD Control Panel (AHCP) and some other switches.

I am using the Reactorone's files!

Your "eightinchers" seem to fit perfectly.

I am currently looking for a set for my planned MFDs and would be especially interested if you do not use the Lilliputs, as they come in a bit pricey for me.

Edit:

I have seen an inscription on a screen in one of your images, but cannot make sense of it..

That is a genius idea!

I was tested the monitors, because were in my closet for almost a year so I had to be sure that are OK!

In the images , there is one screen during these testw on DCS A-10 It shows the right MFD (live) and the some rows from chat window.

I am using these monitors from China. with VGA drivers. All you need is a second (cheap) GPU.

That is about 200 Euros for me :(

ATM, I am looking for something like this to do the job on the cheap.

It says it has a VGA port, so I might be able to abuse it as an MFD screen.

Two would be a bit more than 100 Euros. Just thinking however and that needs more research.

And by the way and more on topic:

That is a great and functional build!

Especially the choice of your switches (or the ease of access to the functions the box provides, to be more precise).

Thank you!

At previous builds I had no room, now I have plenty to do the mess wiring technique I used to!:)

Also, I believe that TM MFDs are doing pretty good job even without screen behind. Far better than trying to click the button with the mouse!

I am not trying to be disrespectful but, that seems like a lot of wasted space and wieght behind the mfd's. Have you thought about mounting those things on the side and inlaying a touchscreen (for helios)? Or you could add new switches and buttons. You could just blank where they are mounted now (for cosmetic reason) and that could be the new top or side. I left the front panel on the pic just to show orientation,

No problem, you are not disrespectful!:) It's a good idea!

There is really a lot of free space behind the MFDs. Especially behind the right MFD.

case-02.jpg

I inspired from Superbus panel , so I planned to do a similar project but instead of building a case from scratch, I use an almost ready case. I had to cut only the space for left MFD. There was no need to drill a single hole for screws.

On the other hand your idea need a lot of dremel work on the case. Also, I am thinking that there will be a problem with the distances, because I will put that in my every day desktop. I will create a plan to show you what I mean.

Thank you anyway, your idea is good and I believe will fit to many desktops!

You have plenty of room in that case to add more control cards in the future, such as x-keys etc., then run their cables out to switch panels.

I really really like the USB hub in there. I just had mine taped up under my desk/simpit... now I'm thinking about making some sort of box to house them in. :)

Great work!

(waiting on more pics!!!!)

Thanks Sway, I have not checked ebay.co.uk for displays, only the .com.

I promptly found a 8" screen from the same seller.

Now I am really indecisive. Go for something that fills the MFD completely (and waste some disply real estate) or let it be and go for the cheaper version (and leave a "gap" and be annoyed everytime I look at it?

In any case, this seems better than betting the device I linked above will output a PC image...

I decide not to waste space! I know it's not realistic but the whole project is not a replica anyway!

So, if you see the pictures you will notice that there are two gaps on the case. One at the right of the left MFD and vise versa.

I am planning to to use these spaces to export more gauges:

CMSC,CMSP, RWR SCREEN,CLOCK,UHF

Check

Yep, I see you point now.

You are talking about this picture. Quite nice idea.

I know it's not realistic but the whole project is not a replica anyway

This is a great trade-off rather than a disadvantage, as it makes the best of the limited resources (money, space etc.)

Is that an 8" display (I guess, whose extra space you cleverly allocated for more) or in fact like the 7" you linked?

Thanks for your patience!

I have done some testing, before I go back to the lab.

Here how it looks on the desk:

panel-03.jpg

Next photo shows Clock, etx exported to the same monitor. Well, the.lua file is not configured properly so the images are a mess!

panel-export-all-01.jpg

Also here is a video shows the panel in action. Only Right MFD and RWR Screen (the small cross on the left of the MFD).
