I guess the 25T cannot equip this bomb?

Fooled around with loadouts and could not find it. In the PDF manual it briefly describes that a special Laser Target Designator pod is required for these weapons and I assumed that was refering to the Shkval.

Strange though that on the main loading screen shot the 25T has what appears to be 2 KAB-500L on the pylons 3rd in from the wingtips .

You're talking lgbs right, try the Su25T training mission for bombs. In one of them you get to destroy bunkers with an LGB.

The official reason is that the laser designator on the Su25T cannot designate for laser guided bombs.

Since the bomb is actually flying forwards, it will only hit the target when you are overhead, or have actually passed it - the designator on the Su25T cannot designate straight down. There's a pod for the MiG27 to allow such lasing, but I don't think it's available for the Su25T.

Apparently, FC doesn't support buddy lasing either . . . . . where another aircraft could stand off and designate while you drop.

The guided bomb that is in is the Kab500kr, and that is a TV-guided bomb rather than a laser-guided one. Still quite effective, and has the advantage of being fire-and-forget.

I wonder does the Su25TM carry such a pod? I didn't realise that the K500 was TV guided until yesterday after reading that post, at least its fire and forget!

You are right. With MiG-27K the Su-24M have ability use LGB. For that its have a "Kaira" TV-laser designator.

We have a plan to implement the FAC for this purpose.

I know that this has already been posted numerous times. But to show how cool FAC-CAS operations are, here is the SimHQ Hog Basics article:

I realy hope that ED will claim the same realism and depth to FAC as they do with flightmodels. The A-10 is to become complete :)
