Freeze when clicking in certain region

This problem is now solved, to correct this problem, set keepComposition=1 in the [main] section of the config.SoftTHconfig file.

If you keep having problems, try the others steps in this quote taken from user AceKng1 in this post:

I have fixed the error! I did several things so not sure which particular step or combo of steps fixed it but this is what I did:

1. First, I unchecked the "Use Windows XP style DPI scaling" in the custom DPI settings and rebooted. I tried a mission after doing this and the problem was still there. However, I did not change it back and so don't know if this plays a part. I also made sure the scale was on 100%.

2. In my config.SoftTHconfig I added the line "enableVBQuirk=1" under the debug section.

3. I set keepComposition to 1 in the main section of the config.SoftTHconfig. I feel like this may be the root of the problem as it was still disabling aero even though the setting was unchecked in DCS:World.

I'm having a problem with DCS World, the game is freezing when I click on either the top third or the left third of the screen. This look similar to the alt-tab bug but the alt-tab command is not working with SoftTH, the game always stay on top.

I'm using SoftTH to extend the game to the 2 lower screen, at the moment, only the Abris screen is exported on the lower screen.

For example, if I click on the left side, the game freeze and alternate between 2 frames until I click in the other section of the screen. The cursor also change from the yellow cross to the white arrow when its pointing over this part of the screen. When the cursor is in the other section of the screen, I can click on the button normally.

While filming this bug, I also crash the game to the desktop by simply clicking in the left part of the screen:

Same here! I will do another 10 crashes to figure out "my region"

Ok so I tried A10C in DCSW 1.2.0 on 3x1920x1080 main screens (soft TH) and it happens to me too and only on the center screen (center screen of camera view; not center of softTH config)

It seems to be pretty exact 1/3 vertical and 1/3 horizontal...click there and it freezes, click anywhere else and it goes on. When freezed it jumps between two frames like an old paused VHS jumping between even and odd fields.

Personally I don't care bc I use Helios switches only :D but it is an interesting problem to figure out.

Anyone?

All I can say now With the recent DCS world or any other DCS module before the problem didn't exist.

Ok I ran one more freeze-unfreeze-freeze session

Can't find anything obvious in there that indicates my ~10 freezes and unfreezes.

But reminds me I haven't installed all modules yet

I have joined a few logs files and the dxdiag.txt file.

Im pretty sure this bug is caused by a combination of SoftTH and the new alt-tab bug.

With the current version (1.2.0) you must ALT-TAB out and back in to DCS upon mission start - it should cure this.

Well alt+tab is not really possible with softTH. I can pseudo alt+tab with softTH (bringing open apps in front of DCS but not minimize) also the common alt+tab issue seemed solved for me when I leave aero on (which I do anyways bc of Helios) but that doesn't fix it.

If this is really related to this "freeze by click" problem... well than thank thanks.

It seems to get harder and harder for multi monitor users...

I have a monitor to the right of my main that the game is not using but when I mouse over the lower left side of this monitor the cursor changes to the yellow crosshairs from in game. The area that this occurs matches perfectly with the clickable rectangle within the game. So it appears that the rectangle window has just been shifted to the right and down.

Can you let us know whether you use softTH or not?

Bc I believe as long as there is the possibility that it occurs in combination with softTH only (though it never did in any recent DCS softwares) ED won't look into it.

Thanks PeterP, I'll try this when I get home from work. I have not touched DPI since installing Windows 7 but maybe it is enabled by default. If so I'll disable it and see if it works.

I had it during the install process of win7...

Win7 just asks you something similar like :"would you like to change Desktop size and appearance of icons ?" while finishing the installation when you have HD display(s) or have a res available that goes beyond the "usual".

I said first also "yes". - well ... Than it took me about two days to fix this... and find out what was going wrong and made my monitors/mouse FUBAR together with SoftTH...

This happened two years ago.

I'm not sure if it will fix your problem - but it really seems to be that kind.

I never said that this is causing it...

Please just check it at home - after you have done this - we can think further about the "why" ;)

But a possible answer is that you never used SoftTH with DCS:Warthog - and used it only windowed with your system.

... as I said : first check it please.

Wrong :) 80% of our both testing in the "seeking best..." thread was done in DCSA10C on my side. I used the same setting in DCSW beta and it worked the same way.

But sure will try when I get home.

Off topic: Hopefully tonight at all bc have to build the cockpit back together.

I finished the stands for the vertical 55" screens btw!

So I can give us feedback about the black area and whether or not it drops fps like with metalNwood's setup

well I have always "enableVBQuirk=1" in the config as well as "keepComposition = 1" since I am using Helios and still have the problem.

So thats no recipe for me yet.

But I couldn't check the DPI scaling thiny thing last night so a hint of hope is still there.

Solved : The 3 step solution only worked for me once I also unchecked the "Disable Areo" in the DCS world system settings

I am also having the same problem. I have migrated from a windowed two screen setup for the Ka-50 to a softTH full screen setup that does the same thing but when I try to use some menus like the slot select in combined arms the cursor has to be offset right off the screen

the ingame exit menu works fine.

I have done all three steps mentioned as a possible solution but no luck for me. I am not using helios or any other screens, just two.

I have tried to include all relevant info in this post not just so that I can find a solution but also that anyone having the same issue can point to this.
