MatzWarhog Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I noticed the first glitches in the Navigation Training, it basically, at some point, just left me on my own. After SEVERAL rounds, I felt pretty comfy with everything, and moved on to landing. Whoa!!! The voice over and automated controls are COMPLETELY incorrect! I found where there is an update in the wiki and downloaded it, but there are no install instructions. :helpsmilie: So... my question(s) is/are, where to put the files etc, to correct the training missions? In the Landing, it is, at present, completely wrong. I managed to get on path and set the craft down, but certainly NOT by allowing the LAAP to fly or by following the instructions! Had I not flown other Sims, I would've had a clue where to go. :joystick: Is there a simple upgrade/fix for the training missions that I'm missing?? I want to get everything committed to memory correctly, and the current Training Missions I'm flying, just aren't going to do that. TIA, I'm sure this is a redundant post, and I apologize. Yurgon Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Related to this and this? If so, it would appear to be known and a fix seems to be on the way.

That and that!! Sorry... I came across it in a few posts, but no solutions. So I've just been flying around and making VFR landings here and there! Hehehehe However, the files for the Steam DL, have a specific folder in it labeled "Training" with 3 subfolders. I'm gonna keep looking to see if I can locate them in the DCS World and update those, as the ones from Steam are newer files. We'll see... definitely won't keep me grounded though!! :gun_rifle: Matz AMD FX8350 @ 4.2Ghz x 8, Asus M5A99FX Pro UEFI Board, 16Gb RAM @1600Mhz, EVGA GTX660 2Gb DDR5, 120Gig Corsair SSD SATA3 Boot Drive, Dual Corsair SSD FORCE 60Gig for gaming, TM Warthog HOTAS and Cougars, Saitek Proflight Pedals, TrackIR 5 w/Pro Clip, and WAY Too much time on my hands. :pilotfly:
dburne Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Very glad I saw this thread, as I am currently progressing through the training missions trying to get a handle on this great sim - am still working with the ramp start training and good to know about this issue before I progress through the other training missions. I undoubtedly would have been pulling my hair out lol. arteedecco Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 If it doesn't already exist, I would recommend a sub-forum be started specifically for new members / training. We could sticky all the common training questions and any issues / questions on the training missions. Good idea??? If "yes", how do we do it? dburne Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Well as someone new to the sim, certainly sounds like a good idea to me - have some time off coming in Dec and I hope to be able to get through all my training and be able to fly some missions. Any help I can get would certainly be appreciated. We could sticky all the common training questions and any issues / questions on the training missions. Good idea??? If "yes", how do we do it? While I agree this is a "newbie issue" in part, and a "newbie sticky" would be great... how could it address a problem embedded in the software that makes the learning curve even steeper? I see this as a problem, that unless it's remedied, can take this game to the bin for a lot of new blood out there that want to get into actual "Flight Sims". I think it's kind of embarrassing when the narrator says "I will now disengage the auto-pilot..." and then goes through another 10 steps, and says "When we get closer, we'll disengage the auto-pilot...". For someone that's never landed in an actual Sim, I'm sure they sit there wondering "What the heck?!?!". In the same training mission, it tells the pilot to tune to 131.000 by "Right-Clicking the dial" when in actuality, you must "Left-Click" to get the "13". My fear of a "newbie sticky" is that it would become "Ignore what the Sim tells you and do it this way instead". As I seen firsthand in many titles, flaws like these "kill off" the number of people that stick with it, and that results in "Why are all the servers always empty??" Even the Manual doesn't address any issues that pertain to actual "Instructions" on how to fly on your PC. It's written as if you are sitting in an actual cockpit, using your fingers on buttons, and it very informative in that sense. However, this mandates that in order to know how to do it on your PC, you must follow the instructions in the "Training" missions. So when those missions are severely bugged/flawed/incorrect... what do you do? Well, you have two choices... if you have flight sim experience of some degree, you figure it out on your own. If you don't, you throw your hands up in frustration, and that's one less pilot we'll ever see in the virtual sky. I'm not trying to wear the issue out by any means, but it would be like buying a riding lawnmower that you have to assemble, and the first step is "Assemble the Engine", and there is a box of parts marked "Engine", and no book. "I" could assemble that engine... but how many would return the lawnmower because they couldn't? Then when they show up to return it, the salesman says "There's a forum where you can ask for help". :joystick: Matz AMD FX8350 @ 4.2Ghz x 8, Asus M5A99FX Pro UEFI Board, 16Gb RAM @1600Mhz, EVGA GTX660 2Gb DDR5, 120Gig Corsair SSD SATA3 Boot Drive, Dual Corsair SSD FORCE 60Gig for gaming, TM Warthog HOTAS and Cougars, Saitek Proflight Pedals, TrackIR 5 w/Pro Clip, and WAY Too much time on my hands. :pilotfly:
MatzWarhog Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 BTW... I really hate to see this get moved to the very low volume, low input "Bugs and Problems » Training Missions" forum. It doesn't make the issues go away, it just hides them from the high volume of main forum readers... unless they search for answers. This should be a front page issue, because that's where "newbies" will be looking. It's hard to say anything without seeing a track of your flight, but it sounds like you saw the same heading issue experienced by others and linked above. We'll try to have this fixed ASAP. To all, we understand of course that it isn't your responsiblity to act as a beta tester, but if you are attempting to resolve a problem, please try to make a useful description of your issue, preferably with a track recording of what you experienced. This makes it much easier to diagnose and fix - especially mission gameplay issues. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
SafetyTurtle Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Well it's not so much the crash that puzzles me, I just thought that would be it...but the training started up again 20mins later.

I also think it's a good idea to continue the discussion regarding stickies and such over there, because that's very Off Topic in this thread about a training mission issue.
