This has no doubt been asked before...but I really can't be bothered to trawl the forums for the answer.

Just purchased the above FS & Throttle combo so just preparing the large learning curve on the A10-C.

However, can't find in my manuals what the (triggered) button near the front base of the Flight stick is used for, located down from the NWS button (looks like it's colored yellow on pg 87 of DCS-A-10C Flight Manual to me).

Is it for TS comms?

Posted

yeah because that button located on the front of the flight stick is something that can easily and readily be searched for using the forum search button. How about canning the attitude and just answer the question?

And to answer the question - its not assigned to anything.

It's not auto-mapped in DCS so I use it as a shift control. By holding this trigger in I can use HOTAS controls for things like pause, NVS control, kneeboard, etc.

Sorry, Madog & Hitman...the question didn't mean to come out as being a lazy SOB..a poor choice of words for the opening sentence.

I don't understand the acronym RTFM, and did actually try to search but couldn't identify the correct key words to use. Being a newbie and also anxious to get on with learning the sim also didn't help. I guess I'm just impatient to get on with it and that approach seemed the best at the time.

RTFM means read the fu**king manual, and I dont understand why new guys get heat from those who should know better. Big reason why I asked to be banned the first time around is due to the arrogance of this community. Despicable if you ask me.

The paddle button is not to assigned to a function. As in the the real A-10c...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

...where it is the SAS Emergency Disconnect switch.

As stated in this tread post #7 It is an emergency disconnect switch

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62077

That's correct, it's the SAS Emergency Disconnect.

From the A-10C Flash

"An emergency disconnect switch disengages all SAS operation when momentarily operated. The switch automatically turns off both pitch and yaw SAS engage switches when depressed. The aircraft can be safely flown throughout its flight envelope with the SAS disengaged. In addition, SAS provides aircraft rate, AoA, and control surface servo position signals to the Head Up Display (HUD) Low Altitude Safety and Targeting Enhancement (LASTE) system."

Hitman,

Out of curiosity, have you done anything with the monitor lua files? The reason why I ask is, I have too have three monitors (and MFDs) but they are the 24" Samsung monitors. I don't have the room for the 27" monitors. But when I fire it up, it looks more "squashed" than normal. And I'm using the correct aspect ration. Your picture in your spoiler looks much more natural to me. Sorry for derailing the thread, but I think the OP got his answer (and then some! :))

PS: Or is your picture with the FOV zoomed all the way out? thnx

I use nvidia surround. To get the correct aspect ratio, you divide your width by your height, and that number will be what you should select in your aspect ratio. Mine is 5.33333. The outboard monitors look distorted, and thats a graphics engine rendering issue, and it will look like that. BF3 is the only game Ive seen that actually renders those resolutions without any distortion.

In cockpit it looks distorted like this

external it looks like this

I think the monitors should be curved towards the viewer in order to get that, its more of a perspective render than anything. As for my FOV, with an exception of the Mi-8, I always zoom all the way out...it just seems natural that way.

Thanks for that. I use Nvidia Surround as well. I'll try zooming out. I do have the aspect ratio set correctly, but it still looks a little squashed to me.

Well, I'll try zooming out as well. I have to figure out when I can play around with the Rift as well. So much to to do...so little time! :)
