sirxazor Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 So here I am, downloading FC3 on steam thinking they fixed that stupid thing that made me REINSTALL windows all over again because it killed my computer. When I tried to play FC2 a very long time ago THE SAME SHIT happened to me, installed the game, ran it and BOOM, there goes my third monitor in surround... BLACK nothing changes it. System restore? nope. Restart? nope Unplugging all monitors / GPU and then put them back on? NOPE. Only way I fixed this ****ing problem (excuse my language but please try to understand my situation) was to COMPLETELY reinstall windows (Awesome right? not really) Now, I DO NOT wish to reinstall all the programs I have in my system drive so I REALLY need the developers of the game or some very technical members of the community to please HELP ME. What's the problem? out of all the 4 monitors in my computer (3 + 1 setup) the third monitor on my nvidia surround completely turned off. NOTHING changes it and it happened right after I started FC3 and got into the main menu where it shows you background of plane and all the games on the bottom left side. Any ideas please would be very helpful.
Home Fries Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 We're going to need more information to have any hope of helping you out with this. What operating system are you using, and what video drivers? I see you're using nVidia surround; have you tried DCS in windowed mode without surround enabled? How are your monitors set up in windows? lunaticfringe Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 First question: what happens when you only plug in *one* monitor and enter Safe Mode in Windows?
kk0425 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Specs might help too. It's more likely something wrong with your computer if things keep failing in it.
sirxazor Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 I fixed it by reinstalling windows, no drivers for nothing and installing steam with FC3 right away, then after that installing all the drivers for my computer (audio, network, video, etc...) this is exactly how I did it for FC2... I don't understand why this happens only to me :( I got windows 8.1 now, back in FC2 I had windows 7.
Rongor Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 why on earth should one install games and then the drivers? btw no software can kill your monitor nor any of your hardware.
lunaticfringe Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 So what you're saying is that you fixed it using the nuclear option, having called for aid and engaged none. KO.
ALPHA_2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I do a fresh windows installation regularly once a year... and I never encountered such problem. But before I install FC or DCS...or any secondary software's, I install all the drivers for motherboard chip set, graphic, sound drive, and etc.. and then the games. Try doing those first, and with one monitor, it shouldn't do anything to your graphic card . Also, some times I had a black screen using Windows 8 in the past, and what I figured was some of the updates were not properly installed.
Abburo Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I am quite sure these are isolated cases which happens time to time. This must not be generalized. Problem here is mostly given by some hardware incompatibilities, mostly due to some older devices and the newer drivers. Keep trying to see which drivers version is stable for you and stick with them. Forget about drivers updates.
