golfsierra2 Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 ehh I'll stick to my fire and forget AMRAAM :) So you will hit me in my MiG29S only 2 out of 10 then... AMRAAM is no pure fire and forget, even this missile needs some support by your radar before it finally goes pitbull (active). If going evasive right after launch indication (RWR), there is a good change of evading an AIM-120.... And I won't be so dumb to use my ECM, I know the AIM-120B and later can do HOJ... True fire and forget are all IR missiles. kind regards, Raven.... [sigpic]http://www.crc-mindreader.de/CRT/images/Birds2011.gif[/sigpic]

cool_t Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 You can reach 2.5 by getting rid of all weapons, lower fuel level, and a good dash from 45,000ft to 35,000ft. I will show yall today, Spinelli
cool_t Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 So you will hit me in my MiG29S only 2 :icon_supe out of 10 then... I don't blame him for doing that though...I wouldn't want a stand-up fight with me either.:icon_axe:
Animalmother Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 M 2.5, really now? I have performed many tests and never got above 2.3+ in the F-15. Even is a shallow dive. Its possible, get a full fuel tank, no weapons/externals, and get to about 37k feet. The prime altitude for speed is very slim between 35k and 40k. Then full afterburner, the plane will burn off fuel, and woala, mach 2.5 :)

Then full afterburner, the plane will burn off fuel, and woala, mach 2.5 :) I,ve tried that many, many times, in the editor starting at around 500kts at 32,000ft and just leave it in AB and climb slowly to between 35K and 44K for my tests. I tried most of my tests at 36,000ft as that is the altitude that I see listed the most when the max speed of a fighter is achieved. I even tried dropping the temperature to -10oC to get more power form the engines, it made no difference. I ran the F-15 dry countless times trying to reach M2.5 http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=9736&highlight=F-15+top+speed

I was just going by the speed guage which is really just an estimate :)
