Greetings fellow flight sim junkies,

I remain confused about why there are so few A-10C/KA-50 pilots that get involved in multiplayer missions using Teamspeak. My website has recieved over 50 hits in the past 30 days from people all over the frickin' world and yet only about 1% ever even try to join a mission. One theory I have is that the majority of these curious folks have the fear that they are just not good enough or not quite ready yet to measure up to some imaginary standard that they have conjured up in their minds. The truth is that this imaginary standard that they feel must be met is just that....IMAGINARY. If this theory is correct then I would like to encourage those folks to stop imagining things and just DO IT! Just jump in and try it sometime. After all...what's the worst that can happen? Click my sig for details.

Cheers

For me it's two things.

Firstly that I have a mild social anxiety, so joining a teamspeak channel is a bit hard to for me.

Second is as you mentioned...or in my case being scared of messing something up like flying into someone or the like.

I have done one private co-op mission though with one other person, but going on a multiplayer server and running missions with alot of people on is still rather intimidating.

I think the main thing is that this isn't exactly like any other multiplayer game...if you play multiplayer in Battlefield, worst thing that happens is that you die and/or your team lose and you have to wait 5-10min for the next match.

In DCS on the other hand, 5-10min is what it takes to just getting ready to taxi...theres a heck of alot that can go wrong.

Also I know at least for me personally the thought of having to "perform" around others in a flight sim is more intimidating than if it was an FPS for instance.

Dont forget that many people live in different timezones.

Also there are many squadrons out there doing online flights.

For me it's two things.

Since you're in my timezone we could go MP in a small 2-man coop where we can crash and burn all we like and when you feel ready we can go Blooooze both of us (I've flown with his character-strong voice before and I recommend his server warm-heartedly (is that even an english word?) and now that I'm fed-up with ArmA2 I think it's time to go airborne again and e-Die in a completely different way.. yes isuc that bad).

Maybe it's easier for you with a familiar reference when going bigger coop.

slap me at asa_oden a t hotmail dot com is you want to start off small step-by-step style.

So you had half a person try to join a mission? How'd that work out?

I was certainly interested to come join a mission, but being in Europe the times don't work for me most days.

Sure, 14:00 CST is 21:00 CET, but I seldom have time this late in the day.

When I do have time though, I'd be happy to come join in!
