I just wanted to post my own thread to says thanks to ED and Testers. I have created a lot of posts about nothing being worked on in terms of fast jets. 1.2.8 shows that ED's core fan base has not been forgotten, and they (as always) listen to their customers. It's a tough market, and ED still stick it out although sales for other genres may have more potential.

So many updates, graphics, F-15 Flight Model!!!!, sounds, UI etc. Too many to list, and the sim seems new. You can see that there has been so much hard work and dedication to make the flight sim that everyone wants. The future looks even better. I Look forward to updates for the F15, Su27 Flight model, and of course the F/A-18.

Thanks ED and Testers!

Cobra touched on this in another forum and I believe it is the strong backbone of what we are getting. I will say I dont always get what I totally want out of DCS in regards to type of aircraft, but I am not selfish and this path of what and how ED develops is not about me. Bottom line is that I agree with your statements and thank the ED staff also.

I completely echo Ells' statements; developing one thing does not eliminate anything else.

One important thing to consider is what the development team are passionate about.

Every aircraft represents an investment of thousands of manhours (yes; even the more simple WWII birds).

While financial motivation is just fine; there has to be more than that in order to ensure the excellence of a product.

Yet another thing to consider is the wide variety of theatres in WW2. There are significant differences in aerial warfare in the Pacific vs Europe in 1944, for example.

Indeed, this looks like a good time to be a combat flight sim enthusiast. :)

It's a pity that Wags withdrew from the more regular updates he'd started a good while ago. But I think that the recent patches along with the Open Beta phases manage to tell the story of the hard work ED and 3rd Party devs put into DCS even more strongly than any forum post ever could, and I'll gladly take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to ED and anyone contributing to DCS!

No doubt. Though some people will argue ED aren't doing enough to scratch the hardcore look-down, shoot-down, and beyond visual range itches. I have waited so long, since Flanker 2 days, for some brain hemorrhaging radar modeling in fast jets, and somewhere along the road certain needs and expectations faded away with kids and age. lol Yeah, I'm quite content with what pretty stuff ED are giving us. I'm pretty sure it's why I cannot wait for DCS Warbirds. Get in, start engine(s), take off, get into a fight, pull the trigger and hopefully land as well. :D

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
