There are plenty of failures currently implemented and a great Thank you to the Developers for that!

My question is if a tail rotor/shaft failure is in WIP? I beleive that many of us whould like to experience/train on this kind of failure which is one of the most (if not the most) difficult to cope with failure in RL.

Thanks

How much right pedal? Where are 0 degrees AOA of the T/R? This answer is the same as for example how can you have engine failure? Shut off the engine! Right...

Just slam the tail into a building as you fly by, that should provide a decent failure simulation. ;)

I simulate this failure pretty much every time I fly the Huey :D .... :(

Another smart answer anyone? We are having a contest here!

Unfortunately I think joking answers are the only ones that can be given, I don't think we'll get any dev input on this (I would like to be wrong on that belief). Hopefully we can have all possible failures simulated, we will have to see. But I don't think anyone here is trying to insult you, they are just joking around.

I wouldn't say that it occurs often in RL (though if you search youtube for heli tail rotor failure you get such videos happening all of a suddent in some cases...), I just say that as we have a list of failures in the mission editor that we can choose from to 'make them happen' in flight it would be nice that to be added too. I beleive that it isn't something difficult to add as it is already modeled as a combat damage! Just to add the choise in failures list in the mission editor!

Hm, interesting idea. I'll try to discuss it with colleagues

Great!

I really like having missions with a chance of main driveshaft failure at a random time. Really adds the realism of constantly thinking about wind direction and landing spots.

Always wondered why tail rotor driveshaft failure wasn't also selectable. Those chip detectors must be there for a reason.

That's the spirit!

A Shilka shot my tail rotor driveshaft to pieces a couple of months ago and the rotor stopped as a result too, so yeah, it's modelled in v1.2.7 already. Wish I had a screenshot and/or a track to prove this, but didn't think of saving either when it happened. I was surprised though it has to be said :)

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

That's why I beleive that's not that difficult just to list it among the other choosable failures in the mission editor. The programming and coding already exists...

plug in a USB keyboard and have your buddy hold 'x' at random intervals in flight.

Why hadn't I thought that... shall it be a wired or a wireless one? Can't decide... Please advice

I do not know how to do that, I imagine that is possible too, but why not add it to the list with the other failures? I beleive that is easier!
