Hello group,

My Son is interested in learning the DCS world. So I hauled down a copy of 1.2.8, and installed it onto our 2nd computer, (i5-661).

I've added one module via the JSGME, the SweetFX 1.51, (the PeterP & Mustang combo).

I noticed at launch it's in the split screen mode. Where 1/2 is SweetFX, the other is the vanilla screen. Rather annoying, so I removed the SweetFX module, and I still see the split screen. If I hit "scroll look", it'll disable SweetFX.

I looked in the SweetFX .ini file, and it has "0" for the split screen mode, so it shouldn't launch, (after re-adding the module).

Would really like to have SweetFX enabled. How can I get the full screen SweetFX? The .ini file is still showing "0" for the split screen mode. I've flushed out everything in my /users/DCS/config in the saved games, still no joy.

TIA,

-Jav

Did you change the #define USE_SPLITSCREEN 0 in both file locations? (If you have it applied there will be a copy in x:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin and also one in the JSGME folder you store the mods in). Reason is, I've changed one before and not the other and it was puzzling.

gotcha, that makes sense. I'll check out both locations, once I'm back home and on the system.

thanks for the pointer. :thumbup:

I've checked the SweetFX_settings file in both locations, and both files have the #define USE_SPLITSCREEN as 0.

when I launch DCSW, it comes up with the split screen.

when I removed the module, via JSGME, it still has DCSW coming up in split screen. really weird.

even with SweetFX removed, still the split. But it shouldn't even split, with how the SweetFX_settings file is listed.

somehow, something is wedged... trying to hunt it down.

Try the scroll lock key to see if you can disable SweetFX (should work in the main menu). If it disappears, then go into DCS World/bin/ folder and edit SweetFX_settings.txt there.

Maybe you installed SweetFX first, and then added it again via JSGME?

After removing SweetFX, with JSGME, have you actually looked in the DCS folder to make sure it got removed. If you confused JSGME, somewhere along the line, you might still have copy of SweetFX installed. It is an unusual circumstance, but doing something like updating DCS without un-installing mods, or resetting JSGME incorrectly, etc., can cause it.

I've installed SweetFX via the JSGME module method only. I've confirmed that SweetFX was completely uninstalled, (double check DCS world\bin dir was empty).

Yet when I bring up the sim, it still shows the split screen, and I hit scroll lock, and that stops the SweetFX 1/2 from working. But what's weird, there is no SweetFX within the /bin dir. zip, nada.... so not sure where it's picking up the SweetFX to cause the 1/2 screen to be enabled, everytime we fire up DCSW. /bin is empty, but we still have the split screen, until I hit scroll lock...

weird.

I've double and tripled checked, there's nothing in the DCS World/bin dir after I've removed it via JSGME. completely empty. Yet when we bring up DCSW, it's in split screen mode. I can hit scroll lock, and that stops the split screen. But everytime we fire up DCSW, it's always in split screen mode, no matter what.

I tried a DCS repair, and nothing came of that. Still split screen.

I guess I'll have to do a complete uninstall, clear the registry and current install dir, and then attempt another fresh install...

thanks M8, I tried your file, and I still have the split screen.

I guess I'll flush this install, and then conduct another fresh install. Puzzling, I just can't get rid of this split screen, and I've confirmed SweetFX is not installed.

I wouldn't bother with the registry (you would have to burn a deactivation and you know it isn't the culprit) but if all else fails, that is a good plan.

If SweetFX is removed with JSGME now check your DCSWorld\Bin and try to find some of these files (folders) in \bin :

- SweetFX folder *

- d3d9.dll *

- d3d9.fx *

- dxgi.dll *

- dxgi-fx *

- injector.cfg *

- SweetFX readme.txt

- SweetFx_preset.txt *

- SweetFx_settings.txt * - here is splitscreen efect (not .ini file):

  /*-----------------------------------------------------------.
/                      Choose effects                         /
'-----------------------------------------------------------*/

// Set to 1 for ON or 0 for OFF
#define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 1 //[0 or 1] SMAA Anti-aliasing : Smoothens jagged lines using the SMAA technique.
#define USE_FXAA_ANTIALIASING 0 //[0 or 1] FXAA Anti-aliasing : Smoothens jagged lines using the FXAA technique. WIP - Currently only works in DX9 and you need to use the FXAA injector dlls.
#define USE_EXPLOSION 0 //[0 or 1] Explosion : Scatters the pixels, making the image look fuzzy.
#define USE_CARTOON 0 //[0 or 1] Cartoon : "Toon"s the image. (Interferes with SMAA, CRT, Bloom, HDR and Lumasharpen)
#define USE_ADVANCED_CRT 0 //[0 or 1] Advanced CRT : Simulates an old CRT TV display. (Interferes with SMAA, Cartoon, Bloom, HDR and Lumasharpen, and it has a very high performance cost)
#define USE_BLOOM 0 //[0 or 1] Bloom : Makes bright lights bleed their light into their surroundings (relatively high performance cost)
#define USE_HDR 1 //[0 or 1] HDR : Not actual HDR - It just tries to mimic an HDR look (relatively high performance cost)
#define USE_LUMASHARPEN 1 //[0 or 1] LumaSharpen : Also sharpens the antialiased edges which makes them less smooth - I'm working on fixing that.
#define USE_LEVELS 0 //[0 or 1] Levels : Sets a new black and white point. This increases contrast but causes clipping. Use Curves instead if you want to avoid that.
#define USE_TECHNICOLOR 0 //[0 or 1] TECHNICOLOR : Attempts to mimic the look of an old movie using the Technicolor three-strip color process (Techicolor Process 4)
#define USE_DPX 0 //[0 or 1] Cineon DPX : Should make the image look like it's been converted to DXP Cineon - basically it's another movie-like look similar to technicolor.
#define USE_MONOCHROME    0 //[0 or 1] Monochrome : Monochrome makes the colors disappear.
#define USE_LIFTGAMMAGAIN 0 //[0 or 1] Lift Gamma Gain : Adjust brightness and color of shadows, midtones and highlights
#define USE_TONEMAP 1 //[0 or 1] Tonemap : Adjust gamma, exposure, saturation, bleach and defog. (may cause clipping)
#define USE_VIBRANCE 1 //[0 or 1] Vibrance : Intelligently saturates (or desaturates if you use negative values) the pixels depending on their original saturation.
#define USE_CURVES        0 //[0 or 1] Curves : Contrast adjustments using S-curves.
#define USE_SEPIA         0 //[0 or 1] Sepia : Sepia tones the image.
#define USE_VIGNETTE 0 //[0 or 1] Vignette : Darkens the edges of the image to make it look more like it was shot with a camera lens. May cause banding artifacts.
#define USE_DITHER 0 //[0 or 1] Dither : Applies dithering to simulate more colors than your monitor can display. This lessens banding artifacts (mostly caused by Vignette)
#define USE_BORDER 0 //[0 or 1] Border : Makes the screenedge black as a workaround for the bright edge that forcing some AA modes sometimes causes.
#define USE_SPLITSCREEN   0 //[0 or 1] Splitscreen : Enables the before-and-after splitscreen comparison mode.

#define USE_CUSTOM 0 //[0 or 1] Custom : Write your own shader by editing custom.h, and then enable it here.

- possibly SOME_NAME_OF_PRESET.txt * - check my post edit reason below. Because this file does the same thing as SweetFx_settings.txt but have different name. In fact it is SweetFx_settings.txt.

and delete listed files if you don`t wanna use SweetFX. If no this files no more SweetFX and splitscreen. Or just edit SweetFX_settings.txt (or SOME_NAME_OF_PRESET.txt) file, turn off Splitscreen and enjoy with SweetFX.

* important files

EDIT: i`m forgot one thing.

Maybe you use one of sweetfx preset maped in SweetFX_preset.txt

#include "..\..\SOME_NAME_OF_PRESET.txt" -- if some preset is used

Default SweetFx_preset.txt is:

#include "..\..\SweetFX_settings.txt" -- if use you use SweetFX_settings.txt

thank you for the info.

Since this was a DCSW only install on a 2nd computer, (no paid modules), I ended up punting. I uninstalled, made sure the install dir was completely gone, and then reinstalled DCSW.

Reinstalled JSGME, and the PeterP/Mustang module, and all is cool now.

was really weird as to why.... but the new install is working, and my Son is now flying the Toad.... all good. :)
