AegisFX Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Has anyone requested the ability to use neutral countries within the editor? I think we are missing out on lots of good mission concepts by only allowing 2 sides. I myself believe we're missing out with the current inability to do something like: US, RU, and Insurgent forces used in mission. Insurgents can be neutral and hostile to both countries. I think will help to create more complex political situations such as one force possibly crossing into enemy territory to deal with aggressive third parties( for USA citizens, think US special forces in Pakistan these past few years since the post-9/11 troop involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq) As of now, the neutral parties list seems to serve only to remove the chosen countries from selection within the editor.(Unless I'm missing these countries somehow...) *I have a personal interest in this because of the dynamic political tension. Allow this force to cross your territory and use force? Chase these bombers/fighters back into their space? Etc.* 1 Owned: Ryzen 3900x, MSI AMD 470x mobo, 32gb 3200MHz ram, Gtx 1660 Ti, 970 Evo Plus 500GB, MsFFB2, TIR5, TMWH+18c Stick, MFG Crosswinds, Buttkicker/SSA, WinWing F-18C . Red Dragon-DK Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 +1 Sounds like a really good idea. Intel I7 4770K, Evga 1080 FE, win10 64Pro, 32GB ram, TracIR 5, Hotas Warthog, MFD Cougar x2, MFG Crosswind
Eddie Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Yep, instead of Blue/Red and just adding neutral being able to create coalition 1, coalition 2, coalition 3, and so on with each coalition containing 1 or more countries would be a much better and more flexible system. Even better would be the ability to set coalition alliances both in the mission editor and via triggers. 1

THIS is what I was trying to suggest, but you've stated it in a much cleaner language! GripenNG Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) This is something I´ve been addressing and wishing for a long time! As Eddie says, an option to set coalition in mission triggers and the ME would improve the realism drastically for DCS. I would like to stretch it even further as to make it plausible to make the same countries fight each other - since most excercises today are arranged in a manor where one US F-16 (aggressor) fights another US F-16 in the AO (while operating from the same base). This would sure improve realism for the upcoming Nevada theater. Edited May 13, 2014 by GripenNG [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Snooze-81st-vFS
Weta43 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Has anyone requested the ability to use neutral countries within the editor? Yes, many, many times :), but it would be a great addition, and the ideas that : Coalitions be changeable vis scripting (or triggers) There be no set number of coaltions (though obviously a minimum of one), but that these be created in the ME or on the fly via scripts or triggers are both new, and very good ideas, I think. Cheers.

In your experience, has any other simulator attempted these 2 specific ideas? If DCS is the first I'd be ecstatic! lmp Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Steel Beasts Pro PE has something like that since version 3 I think?
Eddie Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Falcon 4 used the same multiple coalition system as well, just without it being modifiable via triggers/scripts.
