You also have to be smart about the way you do things if they have such a high production costs.

Like release things early, but in stages - with DCS this is not so easy though.

But it would allow some income to flow back in, while the product is being polished.

Also, not saying that this should be the norm, but you do occasionally get some talent people working on a project out of passion, so their salaries do not necessarily have to be industry standard - just enough for them to get by while they work on their dream. (and then worrying about profit once finished).

Totally agree

A large percentage of people in the milsim business do what they do for the love of it I have spoken to a few developers artists and

Milsims are there great passion.

I have posted on this subject before, but I truly believe cross Platform development Is the key to profitability.

Look at all the big game titles like medal of honour Assassins creed.

There on all platforms and systems.

There's a quote from Wags in the DCS: WWII backers forum that sheds a little more light on this.

To give you a feel… just the Eagle Dynamics developed and funded flight model for the Bf-109K has already cost us about 120k USD (that does not include external model, cockpit model, cockpit systems, etc.). Developing such products is not cheap!

You can disclose it alright. The post is all over the web anyway.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

At this point I think the backers forum is to let the backers see the DCS WWII updates first, or at least till SD sees it :)

I figured about 200k would be a reasonable assumption when I started the Thread. At around fifty Dollars/euro for a new release I can now see why ED Made a partnership with steam.
