I am sure they will expect that, but until we get there and I discuss all that with Wags, its status quo.... but this should be a sign that ED is all about making the best out of a bad situation.

 

I'm not posting to be argumentative or to disparage ED. I agree with you that they are trying to make the best out of this situation. I'm just concerned about setting a precedent that might lead to further expectations.

 

If Ed wants to release each component, as it becomes available, to both funder levels, then I'm all for it.

That might be an option guys, no one would expect you to do so, but if you feel you want to wave your P-51D you might be able to, I dont know if that will make more work... again no one would expect you to... I would probably wave mine if I can, or I will give it away.

I would guess they will, I just havent cleared it with anyone yet... and I am not worried about it till closer to release of those... so no worries.

Wanted to put down that I already received a P-51 key while Luthier was still running the show. Hopefully ED knows who's already received them, with them having to pick up the tab I'd hate for them to send out additional keys to people who got it already.

That is something I meant to ask in the other thread. Do you have a way of identifying who DID receive a P-51 key already?

What I had in mind would go even futher. I already have the P51 and if I would get an other serial number or not makes no difference, not for me, not for ED (as that serial number would just rot in my e-mail inbox, so not even a lost sale for ED). For others, that don't own the P51 yet, the situation is ofc different.

 

But what I would not rule out for me, personally, is that I would even consider not insisting on some of the other backer rewards. I selected 3 hardcopy manuals - and I would assume, that producing them is relatively expensive? I could live perhaps without that. Or the six flyables I am entitled to - tbh, I have not too much interest in them (gimme a Fw 190 and I am happy :o). But then again, if i receive the serials for them or not will make no real difference for ED.

 

So, I would support the idea of a heavily simplified new matrix, if that would help ED in some way. But I admit, I have no clue how such a matrix could look like ... without being unfair to some of the backers. And I also understand, that probably ED can not come up with such a proposition on their own ... as then the forums would totally boil over ...

Yes? It is about what was agreed upon in the KS campaign. But I am suggesting/wondering if it would be possible (and helpfull) to get to a new agreement.

I hope that those of us who pledged to include Dora for DCS:World (in addition to all the flyables for DCS:WW2) will get Dora in time for the August release of the module.

 

This is what was promised during kickstarter: that we would receive the World versions of the planes (that we select as rewards) either immediately (P51D) or as soon as they're ready for World release (Dora).

 

There was NEVER any doubt about it: the idea that we would only get World serials when WW2 was released was NOT a part of the deal.

 

 

As for the pain: World serials were granted to RRG by ED. I highly doubt Luthier would go into his own pockets to buy all these serials from ED - it makes zero sense, the kickstarter money was supposed to fund the project, not fund purchasing the appropriate serials. That's why it's my firm belief that this was something ED gave to Luthier during kickstarter, as an additional support to the project, to incite more people into the mix.

 

It would really make zero sense for Luthier to promise World module serials (for P51D for instance), and then out of 150.000 dollars raised pay 100.000 to ED for these serials.

 

 

And one more thing: granting the promised World serials costs ED NOTHING. Except if you delude yourself into thinking that people would buy these modules if they didn't get the serials (and therefore giving serials away would mean money loss for ED), which of course isn't true at all. This is the same kind of argument the music publishers and movie publishers are spewing around, that 1 movie pirated means 1 less purchase - an argument that has been disproved several times over.

 

 

I think ED is trying to do the right thing, but they are not entirely honest about their original involvement in the project.

Yes, it's unfortunate that they are left with the bulk of development now, but they have been involved in the project from the start, helping it along with some additional rewards for the backers (namely, World serials for higher pledges), and ED should stop making it seem as if they're doing backers a huge favor (or going out of their way and at a huge expense of their own) by honoring these digital rewards.

 

I understand that the physical rewards (manuals, Tshirts) are an issue as they have to be produced. But honoring digital rewards (like World serials) should not be an issue.

I hope ED starts some kind of approval process for any future KS projects with rewards. You guys know what kind of investment and time it takes to pull off a module. Giving away the farm at the beginning without raising enough to make even one module was insane. Add the crazy constantly changing reward structure to this disaster and you have a train wreck. Considering ED's involvement in this project (serials for World modules, shared resources, even giving the P51D module for inclusion into DCS:WW2, actively advertising the project on their pages, setting up the Backer Rewards page), I doubt that this project was NOT approved by ED in full.

Yes, it was a mess, but ED gave the green light (or they wouldn't invest as much into the project as they have).
