Really the only thing that has changed is that luthier is out...Please remember that this project/and rewards was 100% DEC internally funded...

:megalol::megalol:

EDIT: ED had better get in touch with 'DEC' then.

From the Kickstarter page:

The majority of the programming, some aircraft art, and more, are the costs that the team is funding internally.

To quote Wags' statement on the 8th : The vast majority of funds needed to finance this project have and will continue to come from Eagle Dynamics (not Kickstarter).

So if ED mostly funded it to date, what's changed other than the head honcho?

Probably won't get an answer but I would like to know how much extra cash ED have to find, at least in light of the above statement, especially if we are to believe the line that it's putting ED on the breadline...

If that is the whole story then why did this thread get created? There should not be a problem with the loss of only one management box on the org chart.

Wags gave you some basic numbers that you could come to a reasonable conclusion how much it would cost ED to full fill Luthier's plan. I think its reasonable to assume it wont all come to pass.

Because SithSpawn doesn't know the full story either? I never know how many levels of NDA are involved in these things.

But unless someone with actual knowledge publicly contradicts Wags' statement that the funding situation has significantly changed, 'poor ED' is based on sympathy and presumption rather than fact.

I think there is way too much confusion going on right now. I don't want to keep banging on about the SDK but...

Hey guys,

Quick update. Just to get some of you a bit more excited.

We finally have a decision on the EDGE SDK.

It's a YES!

Did he lie? If not who did he get the "YES!" from?

Good Grief

Yes, but a straight reading of Wags'post suggests that whilst ownership has changed, funding remains broadly the same. There's no harm in asking how we feel about it, it's expensive for sure, but financial sympathy for ED seems misplaced given public statements made.

This of course is all speculation...

But I understood there was:

Money in place to develop the sim + KS money to accomplish extra testing and such.

If the KS funds are completely exhausted at this point then I was assuming the initial funding was also included in that cash burn...leaving ED in this position to finish, sell off or abandon the progress. I doubt there would be such a reorganization and announcement if there was an employee change.

Until Wags makes another statement about this, its really just round and round chatting. They said they would do their best to honour the KS, what that means and what they can do is still being decided. We dont know all the ins and outs of what happened... we can theorize all we want... but it does little good at this point.

If they say they really can't honour part of it then we have something to discuss, until then, they say they will honour the KS, let's just hope they can.

If you read the KS, Luthier was talking as RRG, not as ED. Did he have funding that fell out. Did underestimate the costs, did he mismanage what he had... we just dont know. But nothing on the KS really tells me that the internal funding was from ED, and nothing that has been said since says that either...

I think that DCS will honor all of the promises made during the KS campaign, they went into it with a plan to internally finance it after all. If any thing, they are saving money's not paying luthier a salary :P

I am going to guess that 'DEC' is Eagle Dynamics (otherwise nothing makes sense). Eagle Dynamics did not promise anything during the kickstarter. Ilya/RRG wrote the words you are referring to.

I think ED only offered resources in things like the DCS core, and people power like Yo-Yo, in now way did I ever get any sort of feeling ED was throwing money at anything, including funding the promises of the KS.

Nope, and it wont, because the only thing that matters at the end of the day are official statements from ED.

No, I stated that the money was still coming from ED, as per Wags' post.

If ED put their hands up and say 'the money's run out, we genuinely can't afford to meet the commitment made by RRG because the money we invested in them was mismanaged', that's fine. I respect ED's professional judgement and that's ok, I know all too well about train wreck projects in my professional life, having been involved in fixing a few.

But in the absence of a statement that indicates financial difficulty, I'm not going to go round assuming 'poor ED' and making bland pleasantries about how it's only the modules that matter.

That's not a criticism of anyone nor am I getting at anyone, but really, we're going round in ever smaller circles based on pure speculation.
