Disfrutad! :D Work is progressing nicely on the flight director system. Below are some screenshots of the testing of the glideslope tracking functionality. Please note the system is still a work in progress. Enjoy!! :D Best regards, Tango.

Wissam24 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 What exactly is the flight director? Not heard the term before.
kontiuka Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 What exactly is the flight director? Not heard the term before.Probably just a general term for the different navigation systems: ILS, VOR, TACAN, ADF, etc.
sobek Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Flight director is a mode for the ADI bars (well i think in most designs there's even a separate cue/bar for it) that tells you what attitude to establish so you achieve the wanted flight parameters, where to put your nose to sink with the wanted sink rate, when and how far to bank to intercept a flight path etc (depending on how sophisticated the navigation system is that feeds it, it can get quite fancy). Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
lmp Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 It's the two yellow lines over the ADI that tell you what attitude you should maintain to perform a certain maneuver (in this case, the approach for landing). Other DCS aircraft have it too (FC3 aircraft or the Ka-50 for example...).

IvanK Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Be really nice to see a true Flight Director system actually working in DCS.
xxJohnxx Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 The flight director can go from showing ILS/VOR data (like in the A-10C, this aircraft), to much more advanced manuvers (holding patterns, takeoffs, landings). On more advanced systems, like on airliners, the flight director indicates what the autopilot would do if it would be connected. This is usefull for manual for several things during manual flight: -On complicated manuvers like approaches and departures it makes hand flying said manuver much easier, as you just can follow the flight director indication. -When you are about to connect (activate) the autopilot it is very easy to confirm what the autopilot will do once connected. You can also make sure that it won't make a suttle attitude change once it gets connected. -When flying on autopilot the flight director will also show what the autopliot is going to do, e.g.: you can quickly see if the autopilot will overshoot a turn or not. Such systems (autopilots, flightdirectors, gennerally flight guidance/controll systems) are getting better and cheaper quickly and are allready available for small general aviation aircrafts, like for instance a C172. Those sytsems are liked by some and hated by the others. There are huge benefits that reduce the workload, make the flight safer, etc. while on the other hand pilots often become to reliant on said systems. 1 Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled
