Shy Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Hi, I just got the Warthog joystick yesterday. I played on DCS but noticed the planes kept pulling to the left. I had the dual throttle linked, so tried unlinking them and applied more throttle to the left engine. This worked, but surely this means my throttle isn't calibrated correctly? Anyway, I did the Thrustmaster calibration, but now that's made everything worse. Now in any game, I only get any response from the last centimeter of travel on the throttle (full thrust position). I don't know how to get it back to normal, everything I have tried has failed. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Shy Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 Also for what it's worth, the 'increment' slider only functions from middle to a smidge towards the 'increase'. The rest of the travel is non exsistant. This is stressing me out, I didn't pay £270 for a second rate piece of kit. Help!
aeliusg Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Sounds like it's broken (throttle control board). Return it to your retailer for a replacement since it's defective out of box.
Sarge55 Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Just before sending it back (which is good advice if it's broken) did you test it out in windows Devices to see if the controls are working correctly? Also, if you are just testing it in the A-10 it is possible you have some doubled up settings in your control settings. Check in your Options/contols/A10C Sim/axis commands to see if there is any duplication. NeilWillis Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Also, you can see how the axis is interpreted when you go to axis tune in the control options menu. As you move the control, it will show the response on the graph. If you're getting the full range of motion as expected, then it is a set up issue. My money is on there being issues with the axis mapping in game or in windows. I doubt whether you have a dodgy controller.
Shy Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 I have tried in a couple of other games, and it is the same. I have been in the game controller test and the Thrustmaster Script, Device analyzer. Both show no response from 0% - 95% movement. Goes from nothing to maximum all in that last 5% of travel. Been through all steps Thrustmaster have supplied, nothing has helped. Extremely disappointed with this product.

Extremely disappointed with this product. It happens with any product. Look at the F-35. Didn't work too well, and they paid billions (trillions) of dollars for it. In this case you can get a convenient replacement from your retailer instead of dealing with warranty fulfillment since you only just got it.
Duckling Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Hi Shy. Agree with aeliusg. Shit happends and sorry you got a bad ex A longshoot and probably already tested.. a firmware upgrade ? You got your WH from a dealer or private deal ? Reason for ask is that Alpha version of the TM WH (for beta team testing) had a simular problem with one of the axis on the throttle. Havent tried the fw upgrade on that though. But if yours is freesh from store you can rule that out. Replacement is a bitch but you gonna love it when it's up'n running. Best combo I ever tested besides the real devices - - - -
Shy Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 I got it from Amazon, so an exchange/refund will be easy. I'll try a replacement as I really love the feel of the controls. I just hope it works. And yes I have installed the firmware. Really appreciate all the help folks :) Thanks
Chief1942 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Like anything that is mass produced, some "lemons" make it out of the plant. I'm certain Amazon will provide a replacement, and when you get one that works properly, you will be happy with the kit. It makes simming a pleasure. Shy Posted August 1, 2014 Author Posted August 1, 2014 Just an update. I sent it back to Amazon and they have delivered a new one. Right out the box, it feels different. There was a lot more resistance (same friction setting) on the old throttle, and the joystick felt a little grindy. So I am pleased this new one feels smoother, and everything seems good so far :) Think it's a different batch from a different supplier. Thanks again for the help folks.
NeilWillis Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Amazon will never have an issue with replacing goods. They even send the replacement before they have the faulty one back. I had a couple of monitors delivered with dead pixels. They sent the replacements out, and then arranged for the faulty ones to be collected. The new ones were here in 24 hours, and I had to wait a week for the collection service. They just add a caveat that if you do not return the faulty ones, they will bill you for the replacement. It's definitely a great service. As for the Thrustmaster Warthog, I am sorry you got a duff one, but I think it is a rarity. They are among the best products of their kind available. Stick with it, you won't be sorry.
