upupandaway
I have a very weird problem: -> Upgraded Mainboard, CPU, and RAM... -> Formatted the SSD (designated C: ), installed Win7 64 Bit with complete updates and all other software/drivers, including Gigabyte´s AppCenter, EasyTune & @BIOS. Everything was working fine up to this point, even when running DCS and other games... -> Openend @BIOS to automatically update to the latest BIOS from file on desktop, completed the process and rebooted as prompted. Still, everything seemed fine... -> After beboot, windows confronted me with an error message 0xc0000225 "boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible", tried automatic repair and after that didn´t help, went back to install Win7 again with the new BIOS already in place... - After the Win7 installation was complete again, I naively tried to use Gigabyte´s EasyTune to speed the RAM up to 1866MHz, because it was still running at 1333MHz frequency. Had to reboot and ended up with the same 0xc0000225 error message as above... -> Found out that somehow the aplhabetic designations for the drives got jumbled and thus the system cannot boot up anymore. C: with the Win7 installation was now F: and other drives got mixed up, too. -> I tried automatic repair again and used diskpart to reverse the changes, but after every reboot everything was still screwed up. The memory is running at 1866 Mhz though... As one can imagine, the whole outcome has been rather frustrating :( Does anyone have any ideas, advice etc. as to the possible cause/nature of the problem and how t fix it permanently? It has to be possible to use the BIOS features under Win7 without breaking the whole computer each time. The same kind of feature used to work perfectly fine with my ASUS board that I was using before, both memory frequency and BIOS updates... Exact specs: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H Mainboard Intel i7 4790K CPU 8GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866 MHz (conforms to QVL) Kingston HyperX SH100S3240G 240GB SSD (also, 2 older HDDs for storage) Gigabyte GTX 780Ti 3GB 750W PSU [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle! Pepec9124
Try this first: https://neosmart.net/wiki/0xc0000225/ Second guess: Try to repair with W7 installer disk. Try to update BIOS again. I had to do it twice on my ASUS board. It won't hurt either. If any of listed won't help then you need to install windows again.
upupandaway
I had tried the instructions from that site adn the Win7 repair before. When I tried again now, although I did not do anything different than before, I got another error message, 0xc000000f, and after that it went back to a restored point, something that I had tried way earlier and which hadn´t worked at that point... Even the partitions are back in order... Let´s see where I can go from here... Thanks! :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!

upupandaway
No, seriously the only thing you will get from this, is Google Chrome or other diseases Hehe, I never use anything but the drivers from the manufacturer´s homepage. I don´t feel suicidal. ;) The site was referencing some methods that MS offers with the Win7-CD and diskpart etc. Trying same thing few times won't hurt I guess hehe. After the second crash I felt rather homicidal... Edited August 2, 2014 by upupandaway [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
karambiatos
id reset the bios to factory defaults, and do a long and boring reformat on the hardisks before attempting a reinstall. also there is an XMP profile option in the ram settings for gigabyte motherboards, id recommend it you turn it off it can cause instabilities with your ram (unless you test all out and it doesnt in your case) also never use any of the gigabyte automatic crap, itll mess your system up, esspecially the @BIOS stuff, it can brick your motherboard. that said if you really really want to change your CPU ram from within windows use the intel utility, its okish, though im sure people here will tell you to not make changes to your hardware from windows (apart from GPUs). A 1000 flights, a 1000 crashes, perfect record. =&arrFilter_pf[gameversion]=&arrFilter_pf[filelang]=&arrFilter_pf[aircraft]=&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC"] Check out my random mods and things

It´s running stable for now and everything works as intended, so I´ll count my blessings and try something like that some time from now. Reinitializing your PC can be kinda fun, but not if you have to do it 3 times in 48h with 30°C outside. I want to spend some time outside while it lasts... I´ve never had any trouble with the UEFI GUI for windows in combination with my ASUS board before. Saying that it´ll fry your hardware sounds a little extreme to me. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle! Just what I've read on the gigabyte forums, and other places about the @BIOS app, if its worked once good, but dont keep trying it because it will eventually brick your motherboard, i have no idea how this stuff changes with UEFI, since i dont have an UEFI board, im just talking about BIOS A 1000 flights, a 1000 crashes, perfect record. =&arrFilter_pf[gameversion]=&arrFilter_pf[filelang]=&arrFilter_pf[aircraft]=&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC"] Check out my random mods and things
upupandaway
Ok, I´ll have to look more into this issue on those forums. Thanks for your advice, but I have no plans of doing anything with @BIOS for now anyway. :D EDIT: Even Gigabyte´s support had no idea what to make of this after a detailed description of the problem...
