Ok, to be clear. I have the Steam version of DCS World and P-51 Mustang installed. A friend of mine gifted me the Dora. I haven't seen a Steam version up so I'm assuming it's straight from here.

I have the key he gave me. I downloaded the Dora from here and pointed the install towards my Steam folder and the DCS World folder. However it stated I need to update my DCS World to 1.2.10.30996. But when I check my DCS World version in game it is the same version as they ask for.

I do not seem to be able to install the Dora past this. Any suggestions or ideas??

Hey Chief good to see you :)

Unfortunately you cannot install the Dora ED Key to the steam install...

The good news is that you can link the steam keys to the standalone DCS World Install.

So download DCS World here...

In case it's just the steam interface that you want to keep while using DCS you can actually add a non-Steam game to your list of Steam games. So you could install everything outside steam and then just add an entry to Steam. You then start DCS from inside Steam as you do now.

Would it be advisable to uninstall the Steam Version of DCS World first?

Which LUA's should I keep specifically for the setup?

Wait ... I'm going to guess .... base_joystick_binding.lua ..... base_keyboard_binding.lua ... and modifiers/lau?

Do I just copy those over after creating a default folder for the orginal settings?

Thanks guys, just gonna wait it out till the 19th as I really like having ability for Steam to control stuff like updates and reinstalls.

I will assume Krupi was referring to the lua files in your Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\P-51\joystick (and others).

That is where your control settings are stored.

They should be safe no matter what you do (whether you delete the Steam version or not) since the uninstall won't touch that folder. Even better is that your new (from ED) install will, by default, use the same Saved Games\DCS folders as the Steam install. So it will use all of your current settings without you having to do anything special.

EDIT: This is assuming that you have not modified the stock controller files inside the game.
