I was just curious if anyone here knows what the stall speed of the MiG-21Bis is, I have been looking though various pdf's and websites with no luck.

Figured it would not hurt to ask here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well i guess it depends on what you're doing.

In level flight I think you'd stall around 320 Km/h. If you're maneuvering It's probably best to stay above 400.

This is just based on me watching streams and videos so it's probably not 100% accurate but from the looks of it that's it.

seems that manual didn't say.

But do not let AoA exceeds 33 degree, or stall would happen w/ high probability.

It's 220km/h or thereabouts, although certain USAF tests have it maneuverable, ie flying at 115 knots IAS so it all depends on external factors/weight etc etc.

Bottom-Line is that it can crawl about quite sedately at high AoA.

220? That doesn't sound right at all...But as you said it could depend on the weight and stuff. I'll check with my buddy. He has a promo copy so he should know. :)

Edit: But since you're an ED tester i guess you have it too so you're most likely right. :)

The above number is based on the evaluation and testing of a real Mig-21 Bis so yeah, it's correct. Whether it accords with the DCS module is what us testers are verifying at present, although I personally have not tested it. Then again, I have absolutely no reason to doubt the authenticity of the flight model.

Have a look at flight show vids and you'll see slow-flyby's :)

I'll go ahead and trust you then. Well I guess it's good to know the real stall speed instead of freaking out every time I go bellow 400. Thank you.

You can ask your friend to experience : if i remember correctly, set 500~700L fuel, no payload, start in the air, reduce speed until AoA reaches 33 degree. Then check the speed

I am just trying to determine what the best cruise speed would be for the MiG at altitudes between 30'000 to 40'000 feet, because there is always that perfect speed where drag is minimal but I can't find anything on what that speed would be for the MiG.

I think it's around 650km/h

10.000 m with and without external stores 530 Kmh.-> 1.69-2.12 l per km

11.000. ". 510 Kmh -> 1.65- 1,8 l

Max endurance is 480 Kmh in both altitudes.

Hi, guys!

I tried Steam before and I don't like steam very much because it is too complicated. When the Mig-21 is released, I prefer having the Mig-21 on the http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com website. Thanks!

Cheers,

Vincent

We don't know yet. The steam release is as usual being released later then on the DCS website. I'd say around mid September.

Here you have the best speeds for max range and max endurance, with different loads at different altitudes:
