Using a default joystick curve setting (straight line with zero percent), I find the F-86 to be very unstable and difficult to fly precisely. However, after setting the curves to 25% it becomes a lot easier to manage.

Is 25% setting a good representation of the real F-86 in terms of handling?

It really depends on what joystick you have & your liking. I have an x52 & my personal curve setting is 20 in the Sabre.

The most "realistic" curve setting is 0 & a a real F-86 flight stick:)....but since our joysticks are 3-4 times shorter then a real F-86 stick & we don't have any feedback in them, we have the option to play with curves.

If you move your joystick 1 cm(0 curves) to the right, look to how much movement it corresponds to in the sim's flight stick....a lot more then 1 cm.

I also use the same curve for all the planes. I think a lot of work goes into getting the control surface to deflect right amount per degree of stick movement. So each planes has a different feel to it. I think that as long as I use the same curve for all the planes then I am still getting the feeling differences of each plane compared to all the others.

Excepting helicopters were curvatures will affect trimming, making the commands unpredictable, all others planes I think is fine having curvature as much as feeling confortable to fly them. Personally I have extended my joystick (G940) with about 12 cm and I am keeping all axis linear. The pedals therefore have some 30% curvature for all fixed wings.

I also fly RC models and this is applying to them also. What I have there and not here, are multiple curvatures modes which can be switched inflight.
