Gargoil Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 So beside obvious graphic improvements, what makes it worth to buy FC3 if you already own FC2?

cichlidfan Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 If you want to fly in DCS World, then you need FC3. If you want Advanced Flight Models for the Su-25T, A-10A and F-15C, then you need FC3. EDIT: If you don't want to keep installing LockOn, then you need FC3. Gargoil Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 I've read about these new features, but does it feel like a new game or just FC2 with better graphics?
Ktulu2 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 AFM is flight model, so yes it radically different. (i have never played FC2, but just between the updates of FC3, i could feel the difference, I'd never want to go back to the old F15) I do DCS videos on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAs8VxtXRJHZLnKS4mKunnQ?view_as=public
VincentLaw Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) I've read about these new features, but does it feel like a new game or just FC2 with better graphics? It will probably feel like a new game when EDGE comes out, especially if you get other maps like the NTTR. Flying an AFM F-15C over Las Vegas is going to be a radical change from FC2. Edited August 29, 2014 by VincentLaw [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Exorcet Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 AFM for A-10A, F-15C, Su-27 (future release) This is a huge thing for me, as flying the aircraft is a huge part of the appeal of flight sims. AFM makes everything more fun. The plane feels better in gentle maneuvers, there is more diverse and realistic edge of envelope behavior, dropping a weapon or taking damage is something you can feel, takeoff and landing becomes an event, takeoff and landing in bad weather becomes a big event. There's a good comparison video on Youtube for the F-15 FM: AFM Missile One thing that I always noticed in FC2 was that missiles didn't care about launch state. They just accelerated to a preset speed and flew pretty much the same no matter what. This is plainly inaccurate. The AFM missile model fixed the issue, however it is still not finished and is taking much longer than anticipated to finish. It also revealed issues with the guidance model. Overall, missile performance was cut pretty heavily. When ED does finally finish the model though, it should be great fun. DCS World interaction This isn't a small thing. DCS is being constantly updated. FC3 will [hopefully] never die. FC2 is a finished product. The mission editor is a lot stronger in DCSW, and it will get better as more units and options are added. EDGE is coming soon, which should completely transform the sim, and online DCSW integration means you'll be able to fly with more units like the upcoming F-18, the existing A-10, or the game changing CA with human controlled SAM's. Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
Gargoil Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 I see the new AFM adds quite a bit of realism. Thanks for the answers.
