Tumbleweed Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I just got finished flying a quick generated KA-50 night mission against ground vehicles. Aside from my wingman, I also had a pair of AI apaches doing their own sweep a couple of miles away off my port side. Got through the mission and RTB safely and thought I'd watch the track back to see if I could grab some screens. I clicked watch track and sped up the playback speed to where I reached the enemy when all of a sudden, I got shot down and killed. This did not happen in the mission. Checking the map the only units present were the AI apaches and the remaining enemy forces. I've had this happen once before in the past but couldn't work it out and just put it down to something I'd done. Not sure how or why this happens but I certainly didn't get shot down during the mission yet both my wingman and I died in the replay. Not sure if it's related or not but during the actual mission, the apaches vanished in a hail of ground fire. Pretty sure they got shot down as they wern't on the map any longer. I don't suppose that the replay recorded that data incorrectly and applied the death to me and my wingman by mistake???? Is that possible????:huh::huh: My Hangar: P-51D Mustang - KA-50 Blackshark - A-10C Warthog - F-86F Sabre - FC3 - Combined Arms - UH-1H My Flying Adventures: www.dcs-pilot.com :pilotfly:
Sceptre Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 yes, this happened to me. I shot down some F-15s with a Su-27 and watched the track for some cinematics, etc and the first plane shot me down which did not happen in the mission. Very weird and freaky bug... PS: this was a mission that I made not an official one. RTX 2070 8GB | 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2Ghz | Asrock X570 | CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle | TM MFDs | TrackIR 5
will- Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 never used the replay system nor know how to... but from reading here and maybe a quick search my help you better... the way the replay system works is it will replay the mission showing what actions you took but as AI goes they can take a different course... enabling to replay-replayed missions also. msalama Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 This can happen because DCS doesn't really capture anything, it just replays the whole mission with an AI pilot in your place doing the same things you did. I once shared a track of a brilliant Ka-50 mission I flew, and after a while got a bunch of folks asking why I'm posting a track where I'm shot down immediately:megalol: The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

I once shared a track of a brilliant Ka-50 mission I flew, and after a while got a bunch of folks asking why I'm posting a track where I'm shot down immediately:megalol: It's not the AI flying your plane. Your control inputs get recorded and DCS replays them to recreate your flight. What happens is the inputs are not recorded or read correctly and your plane ends up doing something it should not have. Just missing a single input can be devistating. In another thread I uploaded a replay of me vs 2 MiG-23. After I killed the MiG's I went to land a Vaziani. The landing was correct, except that I was about 2-3 miles north of the airfield and ended up landing on a hill (and exploding). AI aircraft are AI controlled in replays which is why they can end up shooting you down after your aircraft starts behaving strangely. Tracks often get messed up if you accelerate time while playing a mission. Yes. It would be nice if we could crop tracks and also get save states back. Maybe post EDGE. msalama Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 It's not the AI flying your plane. Not in the sense of letting the AI make any decisions, but it surely ain't YOU flying that crate anymore either ;) But aye, I know what you mean. What I didn't though, was those goof-ups resulting from missed control inputs. Good to know that. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
Corrigan Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Another thing to consider is game version. If a patch has been applied, things can change. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
VIMANAMAN Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Someone on these forums (can't remember who) said when you save a track and replay it for the first time - don't change any parameters at all i.e. speed / camera, just let it run. Then save a copy and only play with the copy - it seems a lot more reliable for me anways - doing it that way. Plus you've always got the original. And yeah updates nearly always break track files.
Corrigan Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I once posted a track, as part of a bug report, of a Tunguska missing missile upon missile fired at a nearby, slow-moving helicopter. A dev replied and said that the missiles all hit on his internal build, in the same track. Sure enough, I tried it a few weeks ago, same track again, and now all the missiles hit.
