leapingrodent Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Hey guys, I've been messing around with the Eagle a little more, learning radar use, I've set this "Radar Horizontal" to a rotary on my HOTAS but I can't figure out what it's supposed to do, as far as I can tell when I move the axis nothing happens. Radar Vertical seems to work fine, however. Anyone knows? Thanks.
Ironhand Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 IIRC, that used to work while in the narrow scan mode so that you could slew the narrower cone scan right and left. However I believe that function has been removed but the command has been left behind in the menu. enigma6584 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 @Ironhand My goodness! I remember you. You are an old veteran of the Flanker series. I remember those superb tutorial videos you used to do which were a staple of my virtual flying. I was actually thinking of you the other week, wondering whether you were still around and flying. Small world to see this post. Cheers to you! :)
Svend_Dellepude Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 actualy i think it controls the range of the radar scope. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
leapingrodent Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 actualy i think it controls the range of the radar scope. I thought so too before, but "MFD Range" does that.
Svend_Dellepude Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 maybe a leftover from the russian birds, where it controls the radar elevation range and wing span size for the gun funnel. Ironhand Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 (edited) @Ironhand, I see, thanks. The command is very useful, however, in the Su-27, for slewing the radar left and right. Haven't checked the MiG-29 pit yet so I can't speak to that. I assume it works the same but... @Ironhand My goodness! I remember you. You are an old veteran of the Flanker series. I remember those superb tutorial videos you used to do which were a staple of my virtual flying. I was actually thinking of you the other week, wondering whether you were still around and flying. Small world to see this post. Cheers to you! :) Why, thank you. It's nice to be remembered. :) I'm still around but not nearly like I used to be. My life changed several years ago in a way that severely limited my spare time at the time ED began moving in the direction of study sims. And there was no way for me to keep up. So I moved to FSX instead for my flying fix. Now many of the FSX aircraft I would prefer to fly are becoming more complex, too, if you want to fly them well. So I figured, if I have to spend time anyway, I might as well spend it with FC3--still don't have the available hours to fully enjoy DCS's more complex aircraft. However...I sure have gotten rusty. :) Between the changes in simulation that have occurred in the move from FC1.x to FC3 and my enfeebled memory, I'm having to go to school all over again. Believe it or not, Flankertraining.com still up and I now find myself using my own tutorials to get reacquainted with FC again.
