Scotland has also contributed a lot to the world as well, I was amazed at the vast list.

Especially this one.

How is this discussion not political? And what does it have to do with DCS or ED?
Almost none of the threads the Chit-Chat section have anything to do with ED/DCS, but you are right, since this is "of or relating to the government or the public affairs of a country." Some people think "getting political" means getting into a flame war. Edited by VincentLaw

Even if I was Scottish (4/5 generations back were) and eligible for the vote, I'd still be voting no at this point.

Salmond has been spouting a lot of popularist statements with no hard evidence to back it up. Especially regarding EU membership or trade agreements, where he thinks they're a cert.

The No party have run a terrible campaign, and quite frankly, even sitting here the middle of England I'd like to get rid of the current bunch of self-serving muppets in Westminster, but I really don't see any hard answers from the Yes party to make me think it'd be a good idea for Scotland to go independant.

A lot of the services that make Scotland awesome are funded by the UK, or are UK organisations directly. Scotland looks like it will have a lot of extra running costs should it go independant.

I have a strong feeling the idea is going to be much better than the reality.

Sometimes you have to go with your heart and not just your head.

I'd rather risk all and 'fail' than not have the courage to try at all.

Chit chat topics are off-topics. As for political. Yes, it is, and no one will hold it against mods if they close the topic. At the same time there's two kind of 'political'. The 'Scottland independence' kind and the 'Russia vs Georgia' kind ;)

only rightfully they get independence, country deserves it , and if I say earned it.

Its an extremely difficult decision. If we go it alone it could work but if it doesnt we are up the creek without a paddle.

Ive never liked the idea of being ruled by westminster, but if its a no vote then we will still get more powers in scotland.

Ive already voted, postal vote, not going to say which way I went but whatever happens I only hope scotland benefits in the long term if its a yes or a no win.

What's the secession backers stance on immigration? I mean official statements by politicians backing secession.
