Serp Supreme Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) No offense to you, but you really seem like you don't know much about the aircraft, or the sim or have much experience, etc. Imo, a questionable decision by the dev team to give such a guy a promo copy... I don't necessarily think that is a "bad" thing. This guy and his videos reaches out to his audience, an audience that might not be too familiar with DCS but might just get interested with DCS:World because of his videos. Eldur Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I also thought "why are all these youtubers getting a press version regardless of how they'll do with it while the backers don't", but well - any footage prior to release is appreciated. And, it's just 2 more days after all. So it's totally OK for me. And, to be honest, it's also nice to see some guys trying it out rather just some who know how to do things already and just show off that they learnt or even mastered it already. So I'm definately looking forward to some more stuff to come :)

I am a lot more experienced than you think. Oh no, it wasn't your flying abilities as much as some of the comments about the aircraft you made being like those of someone who doesn't know much about the aircraft as well as being pretty unprofessionally done, what with the cursing and all. I know, muh America, muh first amendment rights, etc but still, decency is decency. This post is protected by a pilot who has a serious lack of negotiating skills, but is absolute hell in a dogfight. Teapot Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 What is this? Morality police on a flight sim forum? In most of my professional life .. swearing was part and parcel of the environment, it doesn't mean the people are any less professional. And I really balk when people tell other people how they should be. Now I'll just have to watch the video dang-nabbit ;). "A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft." Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!
Corrigan Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 And I really balk when people tell other people how they should be. Commenting on how people act is perfectly legitimate in a vast number of situations, one of which being when someone submits a let's-play to a forum. When some kid on youtube calls an RL fighter pilot who died (apparently getting disorientated and crashing) "a dumb son of a bitch", I reserve the right to think the kid is a bit of a clown. (And not because he swore.) And since we're discussion opinions, I thought the videos were soaked in a particularly disagreeable combination of superiority complex and factual ignorance. LFCChameleon_Silk Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 low altitude warning beep, wtf is that telling me that I'm going to fast? non-sense. having followers doesn't make someone knowledgeable, theres tons of people who have thousands of viewers on twitch and other video sites that I wouldn't bother watching... having said that theres nothing wrong with producing videos if your fans enjoy them.

Commenting is fine .. saying one should have or shouldn't have transcends commentary. The issue I have is when someone says that some other person should not have provided something to someone else based on the viewers perception of decency. Haven't seen the vid yet and I was 'commenting' on the original commentary of the commentary .. and wasn't commenting on your actions or perception as this is the first post I've seen of "your's" on this thread. Wasn't having a go at you old chap. Of course you have the right to think anyone's a clown, and I'd probably think the same way. No dispute about that from me.
