cquail Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) I'm having an issue with the Mig-21 when I'm doing the cold start procedure. When I turn on the DC battery my FPS suddenly drops from 30ish to 1-2. I'm also getting a low bass buzzing sound at the same time. This issue only seems to come up from a cold start mission and even then it seems to randomly happen. When trying instant action missions or training everything seems to run fine. I uninstalled DCS World, deleted the remaining C:\DCS World folder structure and re-installed with the same result. Anybody else have any ideas or suggestions? Edited March 12, 2015 by Cobra847

Can you try and see if this happens if you turn on the battery in a mission you made yourself? Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
cquail Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Hi Cobra, Yes I did test this out. Made a new mission with a Mig-21 on the ground. Hopped in and same issue. Edit: I guess I should clarify, this only seems to happen on user made missions as far as I've seen. Edited September 18, 2014 by cquail
Cobra847 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Thanks cquail. A lot of systems go from standby -> ON when the battery is switched on. We'll check this out. Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
uboats Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Thanks cquail. A lot of systems go from standby -> ON when the battery is switched on. We'll check this out. I tried it as well, but no such fps drop issue. But in training, no bass buzzing sound, while in mission, there is when dc gen turned on Edited September 18, 2014 by uboats [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My DCS Mods, Skins, Utilities and Scripts | Windows 10 | i7-4790K | GTX 980Ti Hybrid | 32GB RAM | 3TB SSD | | TM Warthog Stick | CH Pro Throttle + Pro Pedal | TIR5 Pro | TM MFD Cougar | Gun Camera: PrtScn |
cquail Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 Upon further testing. This massive FPS drop only occurs when I'm hosting a mission, even if I'm the only person in the server.
Esac_mirmidon Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I´ve tested this and i´m not experience this issue. Hosting a mission, only me, new created mission and i can start up the Mig without any FPS drop turning on the battery. " You must think in russian.." Viper2492 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Last night while hosting an MP session I found that if I flicked the battery switch on with ground power turned on it would drop the fps to 1-3 and my wingman could see the AI aircraft around us glitching about all over the place. When I flicked the battery switch off everything returned to normal. After the AI had departed I was able to start up and fly without any issues. One time I flicked the battery switch on without the ground power on and the entire game crashed, I have yet to test if this is a recurring issue though. Edit: This was in a user generated mission.
Mainstay Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 DC battery is really loud for me aswell. I made a freeflight mission in editor with only the Mig21 rampstart. As soon as i flick the DC switch i get this massive loud BASS zooming sound that makes it unplayeble for me. Is there a quick solution to get rid of this soundbug? Attached the missionfile !!!!Mig21 Testflight Daytime.miz
cquail Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Seems after further testing this drop in FPS only will occur when an enemy ground unit with a weapon is in the mission. Aircraft, unarmed vehicles and buildings have no effect. Throw in a ZSU or an infantry man, and boom...FPS of 2 when battery comes on. Very strange.

Not that I'm aware of. I'm sure that will be fixed/changed pretty soon.
Martyn Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Apologies for digging up an old thread, but I just ran into this problem and I wondered if any solution had been found? A couple of weeks ago, I added a few MiG-21 slots into Dragon's Weapon Training mission (v4) and hosted a game without trouble. Last night I hosted the same mission and found that the frame rate dropped to 2fps as soon as DC power was applied in the MiG-21. The only thing that has changed since the first time hosting and the second time was that I increased my RAM and had to re-activate the MiG-21 (but no other modules). Singleplayer is fine as noted earlier in this thread. At that time, I ran into trouble with the re-activation and had to run the .reg fix to deactivate the module before making a fresh activation. In case this frame rate drop could be related to the reactivation, I thought it was worth adding to the thread... ?

It's completely random and very rare. Hopefully we can identify the real cause prior to the next patch. Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
Gate-5 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I experienced this bug in MP a couple of times too. The only thing I had to do was to go back to spectate and select the slot again. It always happened the first time when selecting the slot after joining the server. I'll try to provide a track the next time it happens.
Gate-5 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Had the problem just now again on one of the STP servers. In the track I join a slot, turn on battery and fps go down, battery off, back to spectate and into the same slot again and its gone. Hope it helps, if you need some other information or there something I should try, just tell me and I'll do so the next time it happens.client-20150214-155841.trk
