ff4life4 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I have been trying to use the BL755 munition, but I cannot get it to have a good spread. It just dumps all of the submunitions land in a tiny circle. I have tried dropping at different altitudes, including from about 8,000 meters, yet it doesn't change. This is a pretty big cluster bomb, and I was honestly expecting it to be more useful, especially since bombing accuracy is arguably haphazard and extremely accurate, ( if you drop from an altitude that you won't get shot to heck).
CallsignFrosty Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I am also hoping thIs will be adjusted, it's a very dense spread ATM. Unless, of course, this is realistic
Random Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 All clusterbombs suffer from this. An over the shoulder release gets good spread but terrible accuracy...
Witchking Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 same problem with CBU 87.... the spread is very small. WinterH Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 There are ways to increase the spread but it is very difficult to have any accuracy with them. Tossing seem to creat a large circular pattern of bomblets, and a high speed level drop from around 800-1200 meters seem to create a nice linear pattern. Although both RBK-250 and RBK-500 seem to spread much better than this one. MBot Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 On a related note, does anyone know in which service MiG-21bis actually carried BL755? A British cluster bomb is kind of exotic :) India perhaps?
Hadwell Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 according to google, Yugoslavia, India, Serbia... maybe some others... Einherjer Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Have they worked on the Cluster munitions? They seem to sprad more since 1.2.15 ?! Edit : No tank was killed - just 2 HEAT impacts in the debrief
tsb47 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I have trouble getting good spread with clusters too. Same results as above. Dive bombing spread - way too tight. Level/over the shoulder - no accuracy. Does anyone have any RL info on cluster munition deployment? Perhaps this is the answer? Maybe using the gunsight in manual mode with some calculations? t Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit | i7-4790K@4GHz | 8GB RAM | GTX970 347.52
Flagrum Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I think, the issue here is that the fuze setting is not appropriate for our delivery method: dive bombing. The velocity of the bomb and therefore of the bomblets is much higher when dropped from a dive. The submunitions are released at a fixed altitude? or after a fixed time after pickle? Anyhow, compared to a delivery in level flight, the submunitions have just not enough time to produce the same spread. So, basically, we need a different fuze setting than the default one (which original intend is to be only used by the AI - as the AI cheats and only drops bombs from level flight, iirc). This problem is also present in other modules, like the Hawk.
Einherjer Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I have testet the BL755 with an AI MiG - drop from level flight 1000m - picture see above A few weeks ago I've also testet an "over the shoulder " drop, but no significant increase of the radius
