SnowTiger Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I was just going through the Huey (UH-1H) Startup Procedures Interactive Tutorial during which it says to hit the HOME Key to Start Up the Huey. I hit the Home Key many times and got nothing. Now before anyone goes saying anything .. My Keyboard and the HOME Key work just fine. So I programmed a button on my Hotas to be the Startup/Home button. Still nothing. The bottom line is ... I have No Way to Start Up the Huey other than the Cheat (Windows/Home ... or whatever it is .. I don't use it). Anyone else finding this same issue ? Anyone got a solution ? Is it just My Installation or is DCS/Ed aware of this problem (which I think is a Bug) ??? Flanker52 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 It's probably happening because you didn't move your throttle first. What I do is move my throttle all the way up, then all the way back down to idle. Then you hold the Home key until your Gas Producer hits 40 or so. Then let go. Once it's powered up - push your throttle all the way back to max and you should be ready to go.
SnowTiger Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Thanks Flanker ... I will give that a try. Soulres Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) you are holding it till the gas producer hits 40 right?cause you have to hold it for about 20 seconds not press it. Slip this into your kneeboard Username/documents/savedgame/dcs/kneeboard that way you can start it up without paperwork. Edited October 5, 2014 by Soulres
SnowTiger Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Thanks again Flanker That made all the difference. I appreciate the Start-Up Cklst Soulres. With regard to the start up Home key .. it was doing Absolutely NOTHING. Never mind winding up or producing any gas. i.e. I might as well have been hitting the light switch !! As Flanker mentioned, it was an issue of failing to wind the throttle all the way up and all the way down Before hitting the Home Key. Thanks to both. PS> Soulres.... I could not find the DCS/Kneeboard folder following the path you provided. I'm not sure that it matters, but I'm using Win 7 64bit. In fact, I can't seem to find any kneeboard folders, let alone a Huey folder !!!??? DevoxNZ Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I've tried winding the throttle right up and back down again, but I still can't get any kind of ignition. I've tried rebinding the Home key to a joystick button and a different keyboard button, but I STILL can't get any kind of ignition, what else can I try? Any help much appreciated.
SnowTiger Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Just to be certain, you are twisting the throttle all the way to the Left (Counter Clockwise) first and then Right (Clockwise) before Ignition ?? I had this exact issue myself. I ended up programming a thumb wheel for the throttle on my X-55. EDIT >> I am referring to the direction the Knuckle or Bumpy Ring at the top end of the throttle (on the collective) turns as described above. IJammer Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I have the left throttle arm on my Warthog designated as the UH-1 throttle, however, every time I start the Huey it refuses to activate until I roll the 'mouse wheel' or use the 'Page up/down' keys while moving the Warthog throttle until it 'catches'! After that it works just fine... I can then use the 'home' key to start the UH-1 to full RPM. Weird. IJammer
TimberWolf5871 Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 Having same issue. Have done all the things suggested here, even rebound the button. No reaction whatsoever.

No reaction whatsoever. is this during the training mission or just in general? haven't tried the training mission in a long time but if i remember correctly it was bugged. if its not during that training mission i would look to make sure you have bound the keys to sim settings and not game depending on which you are playing hope that helps
Tanuki44 Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I have just tested a mission with a cold start and the training mission, the 'Home' button works without problem But the training mission sometimes reacts strangely to key. Check if you are forgetting something in the start-up procedure, especially throttle at Ground Idle.
