CookPassBabtridge Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) Realised this should be in bugs and problems really, mods please move? I have done a search to see if anyone else is having this issue, maybe its buried up in one of the long stickies, sorry if it is. I just bought the Mig 21 Bis, and I am playing it with the Oculus. When I look back along the fuselage, it seems bits of my plane are missing. For example, the wings are not attached (wish I was joking, they just kind of float with a big gap between them) and it looks like the weapons pylons are glitchy too. Is this a known issue? I haven't tried it without Rift yet, to see if thats whats causing it. EDIT: Actually it worse than that. From the cockpit perspective, most of the side and back of the plane is missing. Its fine in external view. Screenshot attached Also I am trying to decide if I like the "lived in" look of the cockpit. The previous pilot looks like he was a right skanky bar-steward - I'm half expecting to find russian boogers wiped on the altimeters :D Can we get some sort of cabbagey fart smell sim-sachets to order too? bart Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I love the "lived in" style of the cockpit...... As far as I know this wing bug hasn't been reported before, and I certainly don't get it, but I only use TrackIR 5 not the Rift, so maybe it's related to that. There must be others out there that's flying the Mig on the Rift so their input would be good..... Buzzles Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Is this a known issue? I haven't tried it without Rift yet, to see if thats whats causing it. EDIT: Actually it worse than that. From the cockpit perspective, most of the side and back of the plane is missing. Its fine in external view. Screenshot attached I'm not sure the missing bits are actually a bug. When creating cockpit style models in any game, you'd only include the things you can actually see, and from your screenshot it looks as if you've pretty much lent through the canopy. It might be a Rift issue, as I don't think you can lean that far out normally. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Corrigan Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 ^ Yep, exactly. The bug here is that your head is able to stick through the canopy. I'm sure someone will tell you exactly where to tweak the movement limits in the cockpit, I can't check right now. Thanks buzzles, I got used to the warthog and sabre, which I am pretty sure have complete models even though you can clip through the cockpit with them too. I will check tonight :) Maybe they just have wider fuselages and I didn't lean far enough to see. @ corrigan yes true enough, it would make sense to provide a barrier there. The only problem I can see with that is your view suddenly stopping whilst your head continues on, for some that tends to produce disorientation and sometimes nausea with the rift, similar to when you go out of tracking bounds. My personal preference would be to have a complete model, as seems to be the case with the hog and sabre, though I could also pretend the glass is there for realism :D @ MiG21bisFishbedL - THANK YOU TOVARISCH AND HAIL TO THE MOTHERLAND Edited October 6, 2014 by CookPassBabtridge [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I LIKE TO PLAY PRODIGAL WOMBAT STIMULATOR

lucien Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 yes, the wings are normally detatched 2 ft from the fuselage at speeds over 300km/h in order to add maneuverability to the delta wings. the wings are generally kept in place by atmospheric pressure please refer to the graph

The 5th spline attaches to the 23rd vertex, when it should be the 24th. This would have the effect of causing a buffer overrun. Random Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 How are you finding the rift with the latest SDK? I've not tried DCS recently since the judder in the last version was unbearable! Any better yet?
CookPassBabtridge Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) Re: Holey wings, sure enough, just checked and yes indeed its to do with the head bounds. If I stay inside the glass, there's no problem. It was quite fun actually, you can stand up fully in the rift with your head fully poking out the cockpit whilst doing aerobatics. Tried to get some screens but computer not co-operating today... Also checked with the hog and the sabre, their wings look great with no 'holes', even when you fully put your melon out the 'window'. Stand up far enough and you will see some of the fuselage is a bit ... transparent though :D Edited October 6, 2014 by CookPassBabtridge [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I LIKE TO PLAY PRODIGAL WOMBAT STIMULATOR

I've not tried DCS recently since the judder in the last version was unbearable! Any better yet? I don't think its any better really. It never bothered me so I tend to play through it, and its worse on some aircraft than others. I also have an underpowered rig so my judder is frame related. Other people get 75fps solid and still get judder, so its a deeper issue apparently. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I LIKE TO PLAY PRODIGAL WOMBAT STIMULATOR

Better they bound your virtual head inside the glass. Not to mention that you don't get an unfair advantage of an incorporeal head in MP.
