So this issue was asked a while ago, and I didn't think it was wise to necro a post from years ago. I'm having a problem with my TrackIR hotkeys working in game only. When I'm out of game, everything works fine.

I read it might be a key conflict, so my first attempt was to remove every key in game that I was originally using. No dice. Then, I tried every combination of starting TrackIR and the game with and without administrator mode. Still nothing.

To make sure it wasn't a key combo, I pulled up the keyboard list and searched for 3 keys that were not in the list. At least I don't see them. My shortcuts are now Alt + F6 up to F8. Once again, tried running in and out of administration mode. Nothing. I even attempted to restart as another forum post suggested.

The only thing that did work, was when I bound the TrackIR profiles to Mouse Button 1 and 2. Except that becomes problematic when you're starting the aircraft up, and any time you need to use the OSBs.

Anyone have this same experience and know how to go about fixing it?

I use/used ctrl+alt+ arrow keys, which I then have as a keystrokes on keyboard short cuts. That way your unlikely to ever hit anything in a game that will conflict. Sometimes though, games that use the ctrl and/or alt modifiers, still have problems.

Are you also using Teamspeak?

I am indeed using Teamspeak. It's not open on my desktop, it's down in the taskbar tray. What effect does this have on it? I used to be able to run TrackIR and Teamspeak just fine, flown sorties with some friends online even. The only thing that I can recall that's changed, was that I updated DCS World to the most recent version (not steam btw).

Try toggling the "Trap" option in TIR.

I did in fact try this as well, saving the profile and then rebooting both applications. Hotkeys still don't work

I'll give these hotkeys a try and see how they work.

Edit: I just tried it without Teamspeak running, still a no go.

Edit 2: I tried using DTWD's hotkeys. As the first time, they work completely fine out of game, but as soon as I go in game the hotkeys no longer work. I even went as far as shutting down every side application I had running, including my Razer keyboard software and Logitech mouse software. Still nothing.

Just for kicks try opening the TS window and selecting settings/options/hotkeys. Look for a drop down menu at lower right corner and select keyboard and mouse only. Sometime this solves key mapping issues.

I'll do that now, but I've had a new development.

I booted up Arma 3 to see what it was doing, and it looks like it's having the same exact problem as well. It's as if TrackIR or Windows is not sending the key inputs to the game, once I'm in them. I can have them running, alt tab and look into the TrackIR software, and everything works fine. But as soon as I get in game, I can look around but no hotkeys work.

Something else you may try is going to your saved games/DCS/Config/input/Module? and deleting the TrackIR folder. Another option is to re-name the saved games DCS folder DCS1. Then open a mission to see if it solves the problem. If not, delete the newly created DCS folder and re-name DCS1 back to DCS. That will return all to where you started.

That didn't fix it either :( I'm now removing TrackIR from my computer along with all registry entries. Will re-install and report back shortly.

Well, I've uninstalled and reinstalled. For some odd reason, I had to move the TrackIR to another usb port just for the camera to work again. Not sure what happened there. But, it's still non-functioning in regards to the hotkeys. Even using the default hotkeys, nothing works once I'm in either DCS or Arma 3. Very frustrating.

I'm replying instead of editing to make sure the post gets bumped to the top. I have found the problem after searching all day. It's a software conflict with TrackIR and nVidia's ShadowPlay. I found this post on NaturalPoint's forums: https://forums.naturalpoint.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=12911

I was about to revert to old drivers, and after reading that post decided to give that an attempt before reverting. It was an absolute success and there were 0 problems. So if anyone else has a problem with any of the TrackIR hotkeys not working in game, AND you have an nVidia card, check to make sure ShadowPlay is turned off.
