Ramstein Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I sometimes have braking problems when taxiing. Like when I am in the F-15C, sometimes the brakes are just crummy. Sometimes brakes are adequate on some planes. They just feel inconsistent. Even when I bypass my joystick and just hit the 'W' key for brakes. Not sure if anyone else is concerned. Maybe the modeling, or code can be tweaked so the brakes work better. In real aircraft, I think they are a bit better. JuggernautOfWar Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 All aircraft have different brakes, just like cars. Some are crappy (Su-25T) and some are quite good (A-10C). A 2014 Camaro will have much better brakes than a factory 1969 Camaro. If you're trying to stop on a shorter runway in the 25T it may be a good idea to use the parachute and speed brakes to assist your wheel brakes.
Ramstein Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 I am not talking about the brakes during landing. Taxiing is what is flaky... Boris Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Well I find that the ground brakes in DCS are ground braking! :clown_2: PC Specs / Hardware: MSI z370 Gaming Plus Mainboard, Intel 8700k @ 5GHz, MSI Sea Hawk 2080 Ti @ 2100MHz, 32GB 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM Displays: Philips BDM4065UC 60Hz 4K UHD Screen, Pimax 8KX Controllers / Peripherals: VPC MongoosT-50, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, modded MS FFB2/CH Combatstick, MFG Crosswind Pedals, Gametrix JetSeat OS: Windows 10 Home Creator's Update
Wrecking Crew Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Press RCntrl-Enter to pop up a controls view to see the position of each axis. Sometimes my brakes will stick with a little on signal on one side or the other. With this controls view you will be able to see that. A press of 'W' will turn off the unwanted brake bias. Ramstein Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 Guess I didn't explain myself well... Yes, I know about brake bias, and just tap them to reset them... it is when braking, something, often they do not have enough braking power when taxiing. It is like they have a weak brake master cylinder. Full of air in the break lines. Of course I am not saying that is the cause, but it is equal to that in real life. Ex Machina Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Hello, presse and hold "S" key for easy taxiing ;) ++
Maverick-X Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 S is nosewheel steering range? Wont help much with braking... But as far as I see it, the brakes are fine. You cant expect to taxi with a high speed and then decelerate to 0 in an instant. Usual taxi speed would be under 20kts. If you hit the brakes on that speed you stop!
