I need help!

I have GameCommander2. It has been working great for about 4+ years. But last week I restored my pc from a Ghost Image backup, which works fine. Now GameCommander2 does NOT work. It worked before the Ghost Restore. It worked on the Restore Image before I made it too. The only difference is that I put in a new Intel 3.06ghz cpu last fall. But GC worked fine after I put in the cpu. It is a dual core cpu.

The Error(s) I am getting are many, but they always start with this:

"Win32 ASR1500 Engine has encountered a problem and needs to close."

It occurs in this .exe:

C:\WINDOWS\speech\SR\ASR32311\BIN\REC1532.EXE

GameCommander Support is trying to help, but nothing they are telling me to do does any good. They currently think it's a dual core cpu problem and have been telling me to set the program to run on processor 2. That doesn't fix anything. I had it running fine on the dual core since I installed it last July, so I don't see why that would be the problem anyhow.

I searched the internet and found others who have had this problem, but they also have not posted any solutions.

Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Thanks.

I have a Saitek Gamecommander, if thats what u mean? its a programma USB-keypad with 16 function keys, which in combination with 3 modes + shift can probable make 16*3*3 = 144 differnt unique keypress kombinations. Not quite enough for lo-mac though ;).

I have GameCommander2.

Wild Bill,

I have GC as well, though have not loaded it up in probably three years. Maybe I should dust it off and see how it does with FC. I'm not even sure it is GC2 (but I think it is).

I just did a search here and found this:

Why don't you send fish and xylem a message and ask them if they have any ideas about this?

Hope this helps a little.

I also use Game Commander with FC with not problems, maybe a fresh install of Game Commander might remedy your problem.

Thanks, that's a good idea...

PS: I had GameCommander1 and there is a free upgrade to GameCommander2. Give it a try. I'll send you my profile if you want.

I use it, nice soft. Have you tried to reinstall it? (silly question may be, but just in case...)

Yes, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it about 8 times. Deleteing Registry keys manually. Manually deleteing a few system folders just to be sure. I even spent a while searching the registry for something funny, and did find one screwy thing. Fixed it but it did not help. This is a very serious problem. The GameCommander support people have been telling me to make it run on cpu2 on my dual core cpu. I've even tried that 10 different ways with no solution.

I use Gamecommander to give voice commands to my WingNuts. All I have to say is "Flight Attack Air Defenses" and they split off and go SEAD. It's much better than pressing all the radio keys every time. And GameCommander works almost every time I speak. I've been real happy with it, that's why I want to get it to work again.

Ive only got a single core cpu, and have not had any problems with GC2, over several motherboard, CPU's, Graphics cards, and sound card updates.

One thing here. Ive got XP pro, but dont have any of the microsoft speech recognition stuff loaded.

So for me i cant see any problem. the version is 2.2.000, you can check this from the main menu, and about (the last button on the opening console).

Sorry i can't be more help.

Think its down to you identifying what happened to your system between when it worked and when it dident.

A year or so ago someone mentioned a opensource speech recognition system which uses the M$ Speech SDK. I had installed with lo-mac, used it a bit, upgraded to a new computer, forgot about it, and now cat find it anymore.

Can anyone remember the name of that opensource speece recognition system?

It comes very well recommended by the flight sim community. I don't use it becasue gc2 works well for me. Users of both claim that it is more accurate than GC2.(think it might even be free!)

GC wants too much for their stuff anyway.

Who, in his right mind would spend $75 for voice recognition software? I paid $49 for the first version but got a very nice head mount mic as part of that price. I even thought that was a bit high at the time. If I'm reading this right, the $75 for GC3 is software ONLY. The've got to be kidding!

I agree, it's too expensive now. I purchased GC1 about 5 years ago for probably what you paid. Maybe it was $39, I can't remember, but it was reasonable at the time. And I got the upgrade to GC2 for free. It has worked great for 5 years so I have no complaints. But I would look at other options before buying it today.

Well... I took out my dual core 3.06 cpu that GameCommander Support was saying was my problem. And I re-installed my old 2.4ghz single core cpu... It did not fix the problem. What a waste of time, but that's what problem solving is all about. I'm waiting to see what they say now. I don't think they have a clue........

Gee, sorry to hear about that Wild Bill. Maybe it's time to try VAC or something like that. At least you got a good mic out of the deal.

You've inspired me to get out my copy of GC and hook it back up. Thanks for that.

IT'S FIXED..... and I'm Stupid....

YeeeHaaa! GameCommander Rocks and I have Rocks for Brains!!

I created a new profile in GC for Pacific Fighters a few weeks ago but didn't use it till last week. But today, when snomhf PM'ed me for my LockOn GC profile, I gave GameCommander a quick test with that LockOn Profile (not the Pacific Fighters one). OMG it worked fine!

In my Pacific Fighters profile, I had put in commands with dashes '------' to separate categories of commands. I had about 8 of them. They had no keystrokes assigned because they were just separators. Since Lockon worked and Pacific Fighters didn't, I removed all the '------' commands. YeeeHaaaaa that fixed it.

I feel like Homer Simpson beating my head with a hammer! Stupid!, Stupid!, Stupid!, Stupid!, Stupid!, Stupid!

My Brain is half this size.

VVVVVVVVV

I was trying to fix the forest, when the problem was just a few trees. Damn it!

But GameCommander Support didn't even suggest that I try another profile. That's probably the first thing they should have done. But maybe the error message threw them off?

Thanks for the profile Wild Bill.

I got GC2 installed and updated with the latest patch. I installed your profile. I have to say I was a little disappointed. It seems to guess wrong a lot, especially in phrases that start out the same way:

"Tower request for takeoff", "Tower request to taxi". It gets those two fine but if I say "Tower request blah blah blah" (just make some kind of sound after the work "request"), it guesses at one of the "Tower request" phrases. It should come back "unrecognize" but it never does. Pretty disappointing. Maybe it's my southern accent doing it but I don't recall it giving me this much trouble before. Besides, my accent is not that thick. :)

Maybe I need to do some tweeking? I played around a lot with setting the mic volume. Ended up setting it extremely low (like around 25) and it hears me fine and recognizes the whole list of phrases just fine. It's only when I end a phrase wrong that it messes up.

I'll keep playing with it.
