So just as title says.

Im lookin for a honest opinion about this HOTAS.

I have x52 with moded magnets and i stand in between two choices.

Get rihno or get rudder pedals.

Anyone who has it could U share ur experience with this hotas...

Any advices ?

The only reason to get X-55 over X-52 is the throttle. I have X-52 pro myself, so I would like an answer to this also, but when I look at it from the objective standpoint then I cannot find any other reason why to buy it.

To be honest I hate the idea that I would buy again a spring loaded joystick and suffer the same problems I have now.

CH package would be a lot better but SO MUCH money needed for that in my country it's not even funny.

Do, or do not, there is no try.

I'm running X55's. I've owned CH and Thrustmaster in the past. They are as easy to program as any other and the price is quite reasonable. Feel is great.

The only thing that I don't like is the knobs/dials are sometimes hard to program but with some research it can go quite easy.

Definitely something I would buy again.

If you're upgrading from a x-52 I honestly recommend you the X-55. Even the joystick feels and looks better but you're gonna need to grease and align the shaft collar (the one that is pushd down by the springs) to avoid a sticktion problem that comes out of the box.

If you think of it as a cheap alternative to the warthog you are wrong since the joystick lacks the CMS hat and you may be regretting your purchase...

Otherwise, this HOTAS is greatly recomended

7rooper, why could you not simply use either of the two hats on the X55 or the mouse for CMS? Really, its the same thing unless I'm missing something.

And the two-stage trigger of the X52 and Warthog, apparently - just going to unbox my TM warthog now:)

Because you need those two hats and the mouse nipple to be used as the China hat, Boat switch and the slew control. As you can see there aren't even enough hats on the X-55 throttle since you still need to bind the Coolie hat and the Mic switch. In my case, I'm using the rocker switch and the two buttons on the front of the throttle as a Coolie hat. That's a big turn off in this HOTAS setup and what really pisses me off is that this setup is supposed to be a step up from the X-65F which indeed has the hats we miss in the x-55

The dual stage trigger is not a big deal for me as the lack of rnpugh hats

Ah, I see. Well, I use one of the hats on the stick as well. I used to use it for looking around external view but TrackIR cured that.

I think it can be done with either set of sticks. Both are excellent.

I like the upgrade form my X-52. The Throttle an more buttons everywhere. We will have to see if it is as durable... my x-52 was well worn out though.

I have used the X-52 Hotas for years. Unfortunately they are worn out (i.e. not as accurate or as easy to calibrate any more) forcing me to purchase a new Hotas a few weeks ago.

I got the X-55 Rhino and I love it so far. I have not had any issues with it Sticking or anything like that. Some of the buttons are a bit clunky, but I have no complaints short of one.

The ONLY thing that I preferred with the X-52 over the X-55 is the Stick Height is adjustable with the X-52. You must have huge hands to hit all the buttons on the Rhino Stick when your hand is rested. But I easily fixed this by cutting a bunch of Foam Strips from an old Mouse Pad and stuck them together using double-sided carpet tape to build up the palm rest. Now I can easily access all the buttons and still have easy access to the Pinky Button on the back side of the stick (not the Pinky Lever).

I have also been using the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals for years. Even on the lowest/slackest setting, the pedals take a fair pressure to move them which I find difficult to use when Fine Tuned Aiming with the rudders is necessary. As such, I think I am going to order the CH Rudder Pedals tonight !!!

Reviews seem to unanimously indicate that they are the smoothest and well built .. for the price.

You could dial down the sensitivity with a Curved Profile if necessary. But I think you will find this sensitivity to be a bonus with regards to accuracy.

is a really good video re: programming the Rhino using the HUD software (which is needed for some commands or functions to work in DCS Options.

I would have said shy away from the X-55, mine's been nothing but trouble.

It's taken me two months to even try and get it to install properly as the driver software flat out refuses to acknowledge they're plugged in and complete the installation. Saitek support were nice enough, but absolutely useless in helping, with a circular email chain of "uninstall all your usb devices, then run the software again" and my reply of "Done that, drivers still don't install, what next?".

I managed to install the drivers manually using the "update driver" functionality in Device Manager and extracting the saitek website supplied .exe into its component parts using WinRar.

It's clearly not the proper solution though as the config software only lets me properly set everything for the joystick. The profile section works for the throttle, but not the calibration or even the LED brightness slider (both work for the actual stick). Probably something to do with a number of generic USB devices in device manager that are somehow related to the stick or throttle.

It's now technically useable I suppose, but to top it off I've found a big problem with the joystick. Y axis works fine, but going on the X axis (left to right), results in a big spike on the Y axis to it's maximum deflection like I've just yanked it backwards as hard as possible.

I've one more thing to try, which is turning off legacy support for the USB 3 ports (doing that for USB 1 and 2 didn't help), but I suspect I've got a faulty set.

Buzzles I was also having problems initially with the drivers. What I ended up doing was formatting my system and reinstalling the OS. Once basic installation was completed I installed the drivers with 0 difficulty.

In the grand scheme of things, OS's need to be redone at some point, thats just reality.

What I present might not be the easiest solution but in my mind it is the best. Not everybody is comfortable with doing it but i find it easier in the long run than chasing ghosts.

@Buzzles

Tell me buddy when is the last time u did a fresh OS install? As it sounds ur OS a bit overloaded with different dlls and drivers. It happens if u dont keep it clean :) It was like that since win95...U just have to do format c: from time to time :)

I have small profiler issue.. It wont start up no matter what i do.

Any solutions guys?

Edit2

Found a fix for this :)

I had to plug it to USB 2.0 and run driver instalation setup again...

It wasnt detected in USB 3.0
