mytai01 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Why does the Dora radio quit working after takeoff? Basally, it doesn't work in the air. Art-J Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 You have to use "push to talk" command (default Alt + \ If I'm not mistaken). i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Olethros Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Also, as with the P-51, you have to make sure that you have the correct HF frequency for whoever it is you want to talk to on one of your radio's presets. This is usually set by the mission designer, or it can be done in the pre-flight arming screen. Additionally, the Dora's battery has a rather unfortunate tendency to run out a couple of minutes into the flight, so your engine has to run at 1200+ RPM for the generator to power the radio set.
Spectrum Legacy Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I knew there is something going on with the current, since the lights starts to flicker or fade rather quickly and get brighter once I increased the RPM (though very nicely modelled generator, just like on the vintage bikes/cars). First I suspected combat damage to the generator and/or battery freezing in higher altitude, but now I just wonder whether there is some problem with it like it is not recharging the battery properly, or simply battery runs out fast in the Dora and it is supposed to be like this without much left to do to prevent it. That should lead to various systems not operating properly if the minimum current is not met, radio set being quite demanding (along with external lights and undercarriage/flaps motors). However I haven't experienced problems with the radio myself so far as long as the frequencies are correctly set in the mission editor, while using the push-to-talk button (I've re-bound it back to "\" for convenience). fastfreddie Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 http://youtu.be/YDIttyxMoIw I can't remember if I've had my radio shot out completely but I have had it start breaking up when I had damage to my plane. Pretty neat to see it chopping in and out with my failing plane. Some missions haven't been edited correctly like others have said but I can't remember my battery/generator failing unless I dropped my rmps very low for quite a while.
