Hi.

First of all, new Su-27 is amazing! The model and cockpit look both incredible and the AFM is fantastic. I'm not a pilot and especially not a combat pilot, but it has a great feeling, when it lifts off the ground and I'm happy with that.

But one of my biggest surprises comes with the SOUNDS!!! I don't know, who did it, but man, this is the sound I expect from todays simulations. It's so outstanding, I can't even describe it. TBH, on many modules, for me, the sounds are really on the "down side" and sometimes prevent me from buying it. I'm such a bitch, when it comes to sounds in sims...:)

Mr. Diveplane usualy saves the day with his team and their amazing work on sound mods (recommended).

But this is how it's done!!! From spooling up the engines, over canopy closing/opening, internal or external engine sounds to shutting them down (and this especially!!),....it's one huge eargasm! It adds so much to the simulation, when You have proper sounds...

So...I just wanted to let this out, because someone in ED hit the spot with this one.

Great job, well done, thumbs up, everything best, top class.......just thanks!

The sounds have increased the immersion level with 50% for me :).

Also, I am using Isegrim's sound mod for su-25's family which have same impact in the game as the new Su27s sounds. Just faboulous.

Well said.

Do you also think that these kind of changes deserve to be included in change logs? I certainly do.

Definitely! Sounds are the second most important thing for me (aside from physics and stuff). It has to look real, but it also has to sound real.

EDIT: And I'm sure it requires a lot of work to make it so great. I don't know, why is it underestimated so often...

I will check it out. Thanks.

YES!!! I was so flabbergasted while spooling up the engines the first time. FINALLY it sounds like a jet engine with low-frequency components and not like a defective vacuum cleaner in the F-15C ...

Indeed, the sound for Su27 is outstanding. The wind which blows along my cockpit when I am up at 8000 meters, it makes me really feel like I am over there. It is really something which I have never heard before in a game.

Indeed, the array of samples is much more complete and every one of them clearly aims for a realistic sound scene. Recently I couldn't get enough of this seemingly simple video:

PS. Have you noticed the sound of the drogue shutes?

PS2. If you have a soundcard with Dolby Headphone (ASUS Xonar for example) I strongly recommend you at least try it. Does anyone of you recall the effect when you're in cockpit rotating your head left and you get 3 times as loud engine noise into your left year compared to the right one? With Dolby Headphone enabled the ridiculous effect is gone and it generally gives and interesting soundscape when in-cockpit.

I only had a quick flight as I've been playing with the Hawk a lot lately. But this thread makes me happy. Sound is often overlooked. You could make a perfect replication of any aircraft, if the sounds aren't up to par however it negatively effects the whole thing. I'm going to try out the SU-27 more later on.

I'll give it a try. On my DGX it's mostly disabled because it's changing music too much. In bad way imho, it feels synthetic.

It's not meant for music, unless you play downloaded youtube clips in 360p :) Re being synthetic, yes, it is. But give it 5 full minutes and re-evaluate. Your brain should compensate for some of the bad effect.

I've tested it with Su-27, less painful when I moved my "head" with canopy open, also positioning is not that bad. I did few minutes of testing with F11.

I don't like to listen to music from youtube, unless it's uploaded by someone competent "cough" potato codecs "cough".

I will probably use it only for DCS as other games I play tend to have better sound design.

Overall it sounds like someone wanted to emulate home cinema speakers with all it's downsides.

Yep, it's limited but removes the unwanted 'ill feed the sound to one of your ears' effect. There are better positional implementations but please use this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122517&highlight=position if you have any further question to avoid derailing this topic.

Back on track:

Today I noticed the belly landing sounds are 'BANG! <..........NOTHING........> BA-BA-BANG! <..........NOTHING........> BANG! <..........NOTHING........>' no more (it was like this sometime ago).

Yeah...the drag shutes sound good, when opened. :-) I don't have a soundcard with this "feature", but I believe it sounds great.

I've been waiting for high pitch turbine sound in DCS for a long time. :-))) I tried to find some real startups on YT and I found one from cockpit and man, the sound is there! Really good job!
