Press Release: for immediate release.

 

"MOSCOW, RUSSIAN FEDERATION. Today Russian minister of defence Sergey Ivanov announced new program for hiring flight simmers into army ranks. The program will concentrate on those computer flight sim enthusiasts who excell in modern flight simulators such as LockOn and Falcon 4. Successfull candidates who pass initial exams will undergo paid training to fly REIS UAV (more info on REIS http://warfare.ru/?linkid=2345&catid=324)

 

"I am delighted that today we finally recognize unique skillset of flight simmers all over the world. Many of them excell in virtual flight and air combat and they are exactly the right people to fly our top of the line UAV's using controls very similar to joystick and computer monitor" - said Mr. Ivanov to the press.

 

Initial salary for UAV pilot trainees will start from $150000USD per year with bonuses accumulated for each successfull UAV landing.

 

This program is open to all flight simulator enthusiasts in the world, provided that upon training completion they obtain russian citizenship and sign appropriate security agreements.

Hmmm...and they are going to pay UAV pilots $150,000 US per year? How come they are not paying their Sukhoi pilots that much? Why do their actual pilots only get the meager number of hours per year they do? I'm sorry, but the story looks like horse puckey in light of their lack of funds in other military areas.

For flying a Flanker you would need to get thru the old recruitment test - you would have to fit the flight suit :D

Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
