When loading DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora training mission it simply does:

nothing.

It loads a mission, I then sit in the cockpit on some airfield and nothing is happening.

No tutorial, nothing.

When exiting this "mission" I end up with following error message, telling me that this mission is newer than the version of the mission editor

Was ist das jetzt wieder für ein Mumpitz?

Something is off in You install. Just tried three random training missions and they all loaded up fine. That's not the first thread, however, where I've noticed someone stumbling upon "outdated editor" problem. Don't know the cause or solutions though, You're going to have to do some searching.

English version of the game here, no mods for Dora.

Hi Airway,

I guess it's not something you can fix on your end.

Could you please elaborate on which mission(s) precisely you got this issue? I'm sure that information will help ED & testers to fix it quicker.

Cheers,

Az'

Repair, update, deactivating module, activating module, uninstalling module, reinstalling module, uninstalling DCS World, reinstalling DCS world.

And all that for DCS World and DCS World openbeta.

And besides that. I am not the only user with this problem, as I read in the forums.

I wonder if the issue is somewhat language-version related...

If I can help with that in any way, let me know. Because right now I can't take advantage of the Fw-190 missions.

Oh, I don't know if that is the case. Just wondering, after seeing Your screenshot with some "description" related problems. My DCS install is "English" from the beginning, never tried others so I don't know how they influence (or not) the way the mission editor works.

Could zip and post one of the Dora training missions files from Your DCS (both .miz. and .lua files)? I'd like to compare them to mine.

Why not, if it helps.

I just wonder why noone else has this problem.

While zipping, I found that I had an aircraft folder AND an aircrafts folder in the mods folder.

In the aircrafts folder were an Mi-8 and an Fw-190 Folder with subfolders, all empty.

So I zipped you the 1st training mission out of the aircraft folder of the Fw-190 - the cold start up mission.

As it seems that I load the German file, I zipped the one from the DE, not the EN folder.

Here it is:

The "aircrafts" folder is a leftover from pre 1.2.9 (If I recall correctly?) times. The "Aircraft" is the only folder where all required data is stored nowadays. You can deleted the old one, especially when it's empty, but that brings the question - where did it come from? It shouldn't be there, neither after clean install, nor after a couple of recent patches.

Anyway - I downloaded your mission, tried to play it and got exactly the same results as You described on previous page. True, that was attempt of playing DE version of the mission on EN copy of the game, but still, that doesn't look like coincidence. It would seem the DE missions might be outdated/bugged somehow. SiTh, can You try it and, in case of similar symptoms, report it where needed?

Airway, if You have EN folder as well, does it contain mission files? I've noticed that EN and DE .miz have different sizes. If You do, can You play the EN version?

I compared the german and the english version of the mission file. I spotted two significant differences:

a) the german mission is localized. :o) No, what I mean is: the english mission contains english texts directly in the file while the german one contains references to the german texts, which are stored elsewhere (subfolder in the .miz file)

b) this:

   }, -- end of ["coalition"]
   ["sortie"] = "DictKey_sortie_41",
    ["version"] = 9,
   ["goals"] =
   {
   }, -- end of ["goals"]

(german version)

vs. this:

   ["sortie"] = "Start Up",
    ["version"] = 7,
   ["goals"] =
   {
   }, -- end of ["goals"]

(english version)

The mission editor (...\me_missioneditor.lua) of 1.2.14 contains checks against VERSION_MISSION = 7.

My conclusion: the original, english, mission was created with the current mission editor, but - whatever method or tool it was used for this - the german translation was probably done by someone using a newer/internal (2.0?) version.

There we go. Problem identified. :)

When I copy the english mission files from the EN into the German DE folder and replace the existent misison files, the mission loads as intended (except the language) :

Seems that they introduce a kind of dictionary so that not every new module must be translated every time.

Thank you for your help, Art-J and Flagrum!
