question about mission editor, how to let a air unit appear and wait trigger?

I know how to let an air group or unit appear and start action untill preset trigger condition is true. But before, it isn't there.

My question here is, I want the air group or unit Appear from mission start but stop there and wait.

is that possible? if yes, Please tell me how?

(I try to use action such as "group AI on/off" or "group stop", but in the corresponding drop list, there is only ground unit, no air unit.

air unit can only be found in "group activation/deactivation" unit drop list, how so?

please tell me how to let an Aircraft show up but wait on ground or airport, do nothing or wait trigger condition.

Thanks

Yes. Place the group on the ramp and check "uncontrolled". Then create a start action like in the screenshot. Then you can invoke this action with any trigger you want using AI Task Set. This will put the group on the ramp right from mission start but they won't go anywhere until you trigger them.

Thank you so much! I found the key problem, terrible, there is no "uncontrolled" check box in my editor:cry: what happen?

Alternatively, you could have the air unit perform an orbit between two waypoints and then, once the "action" condition is met, switch to the next waypoint. I'm not at my comp right now and can't get into detail off the top of my head, but it should be relatively simple to set this up.

I did a double check minutes before, there is no "uncontrolled" check box in my mission editor.

what makes the difference between yours and mine?

combine arms? which I don't have, is this?

You have to set the Waypoint Type to "Take off from Ramp".

Once that is selected the Uncontrolled option will be visible.

OH:doh:, Thanks!

you know what, minutes before, what I try is "start from parking point", but forgot to try "start from ramp".

:thumbup:I should try more before I ask.

Thank you!!!!

a) set the orbit to a speed with good fuel efficiency

b) set the unit to another country, then it'll be their taxes :D

thank you for your instruction. this time I try to set F-18 on carrier. I try to let F/A18 appear, uncontrolled, and wait a trigger. But they never appear onboard carrier, whenever before or after trigger.

I set as the same way as you taught me, start from ramp, uncontrolled, set start, set trigger....but I did see them onboard.

could you tell me how to make that work?

or that is a bug? impossible for mission editor?

Thank you!

Sorry, I don't know the answer. I tried placing an uncontrolled aircraft on a carrier and it drove itself right into the water so, ya, that seems very buggy.

thank you for your reply, now I know didn't make mistake.

thank you.

and another definite problem,or to say bug, is MY huey onboard slowly move forward on deck.looks like there is no friction. huey will finally drop from fly deck.:pilotfly:

Known problem. I thought I once read it was fixed, but I probably remember that wrong.
